The Aggie Ring is the most visible symbol of the Aggie Network that connects Aggies around the world. Dating back over a hundred years, it is a tradition that is deep in symbolism. Every symbol represents values every Aggie should hold: Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Loyalty, Respect and Selfless Service.

Aggie mascot, Reveille II. The third Reveille was the first to be a purebred Rough Collie; all subsequent mascots have belonged to this breed.

Texas A&M is a land-grant, sea-grant, and space-grant university known for its programs in engineering, technology, and agriculture.
Football announcers to introduce the school as the Aggies or the Farmers. Big Blue, a bull, was selected to represent the school as the mascot.

First, though, some background on Reveille. She's a Rough Collie, and there have been nine of them since 1931, when the first Reveille assumed mascot duties (though the first pure bred wasn't until Reveille III).
An Aggie is not a horse, such as the one representing that school out in West Texas. An Aggie is not a pony, like the one in "SMUland." We are certainly not a frog or horned toad, nor a Waco bruin or bear. We are not a little ol' cat or a fowl owl like those in Houston.
"She is the first one to have her vocal cords soften, she came from competition breeders and show dogs and one thing they do is soften their bark, A&M didn't have that done but she is the first," Trevor Sieben, a handler said. Reveille can still bark but if you hear her, it sounds horse.
Reveille comes from the French word "réveiller" or in English to "to wake up." In 1812, U.S. forces designated the iconic melody to call service members to muster up for roll call to start the work day.

How Can I Join? Acceptance to Texas A&M University is the ONLY pre-requisite for joining this leadership training program. The majority of incoming cadets are in the freshman class, however, the Corps is open to all Texas A&M students.
Most people don't know that Texas A&M is actually the oldest higher education institution in the Texas. It was founded in 1876. Reveille holds the highest ranking of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets, a student military organization. Bonus fun fact: Corp of Cadets is Texas A&M's oldest student organization.

Texas A&M has been selected national champions in three seasons from NCAA-designated major selectors. Texas A&M claims all three championships. In 1939, the undefeated Aggies were voted No. 1 by the AP Poll shortly after its inception along with No. 1 in 8 of the 12 other major polls, after the 1939 season.
