Umrah is sometimes considered the "lesser pilgrimage", in that it is not compulsory, but is still highly recommended. It is generally able to be completed in a few hours, in comparison to ?ajj, which may take a few days. It is also not meant to be interpreted as a substitute for Hajj.
Pilgrims also trace the path of Ibrahim's wife, Hagar, who Muslims believe ran between two hills seven times searching for water for her dying son. Muslims do not worship the Kaaba, but it is Islam's most sacred site because it represents the metaphorical house of God and the oneness of God in Islam.
Both are Islamic pilgrimages, the main difference is their level of importance and the method of observance. Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. Although they share common rites, Umrah can be performed in less than a few hours while Hajj is more time-consuming, and involves more rituals.
Umrah Visa Requirements:
- A completed original Umrah visa application form.
- One recent passport size color photograph with a white background should be attached to the application form.
- Passports should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of submission of the application form.
Umrah requires Muslims to perform two key rituals, Tawaf and Sa'i. Tawaf is a circling round the Kaaba. For men, it is recommended to do the first three circuits in a hurried pace, followed by four rounds of a more leisurely pace.
During Hajj, pilgrims join processions of millions of people, who simultaneously converge on Mecca for the week of the Hajj, and perform a series of rituals: each person walks counter-clockwise seven times around the Kaaba (the cube-shaped building and the direction of prayer for the Muslims), trots (walks briskly)
While Haj is conducted annually, Umrah can be performed multiple times through the year. Last year, the Saudi authorities kept the first Umrah visa free and charged 2,000 riyals for each subsequent visit.
The visa fee is 440 Saudi riyals ($117) and includes a health insurance fee.
Coronavirus closings
After the reporting of the first case of coronavirus in Saudi Arabia, on March 4, 2020, the Riyadh government banned Umrah pilgrimage to the holy cities of Medina and Mecca for Saudi citizens and residents living in the kingdom.This year Hajj occurs from approximately July 28, 2020 to August 2, 2020. Umrah is a pilgrimage that can be completed at any time of the year. The Saudi government has announced a series of entry restrictions due to COVID-19. Travelers will not be permitted entry to Saudi Arabia with umrah visas.

The Umrah and Hajj visas are free but they will still have to pay for services they get in Saudi Arabia.
Differences between the Hajj and Umrah
Hajj is performed over specific days during a designated Islamic month. However, Umrah can be performed at any time. Umrah is a pilgrimage that can be completed at any time of the year.
Saudi Tourist eVisa Eligibility
If you are a legal resident of one of them, you can obtain a Saudi Umrah eVisa online with iVisa.They must also not wear any scent, including deodorant. Women must exercise strict modesty in their appearance and should not apply make-up, perfume or any other cosmetics. Also, Muslims are not allowed to use scented soap. Unscented soap is available for pilgrims during hajj.
Al-?il (??????) refers to the area between the boundaries of the miqats and the boundaries of the ?aram. Towns and cities such as Jeddah, Khulais, Al-Janun, and Tanʿim are all situated within Al-Hil.
Ihram clothing (Ahram clothing) includes men's and women's garments worn by Muslim people while in a state of I?rām, during either of the Islamic pilgrimages, ?ajj and/or ʿUmrah. The main objective is to avoid attracting attention. Ihram is also a state which a pilgrim is in during the Hajj pilgrimage.
Restrictions. A man in the state of ihram must not tie any knots or wear any stitched items. During ihram, women must have their faces uncovered; they are forbidden to wear the Burqa or Niqab. However, the Hijab or Dupatta is obligatory. There is also no gender segregation during the Hajj.
If an individual from Al-Hil has the intention of entering Mecca for another purpose, such as performing Salah at the Haram, or visiting friends or relatives, then ihram is not required. If after entering Mecca, the individual decides to perform 'Umrah, then s/he will need to assume ihram at the boundary of the Haram.
Miqat Yalamlam (Arabic: ????? ?????) is one of the five miqats assigned by Prophet Muhammed to enter the ihram state for Muslim pilgrims ( aka Hujjaj) going to Mecca. It is the assigned Miqat for all pilgrims coming from all regions located to the south of Mecca.
During the pilgrimage, sexual activity, smoking and swearing are also forbidden. Other forbidden activities include killing animals, using profane language, quarrelling or fighting, and taking oaths, in addition to any other regularly prohibited acts. Unscented soap is available for pilgrims during hajj.
This is not the Miqat so it is not compulsory to wear Ihram here. This mosque is also known as Masjid -e- Ayesha since Muhammad's wife Ayesha had put her Ihram (restriction on pilgrimage) from this place once.
You don't need to shave if you don't want to, Shortening or cutting the hair is a MUST though.
