Muffle the sound further by placing the blender on top of a folded dish towel or a rubber or silicon mat or trivet. These all help absorb some of the noise from the motor.

Blendtec blenders tend to be very loud, but not significantly louder than other blenders. It also depends on the model you have and whether or not it has a sound shield. The volume is generated from the large motor and fast-moving blades, but these are essential for smoother blending.
The Vitamix was slightly quieter, but the Blendtec is a little bit more powerful, that 3.8 horsepower versus a 3 horsepower on the Vitamix. We're going to use a medium smoothie setting for both of these and just see how they both handle, making a simple strawberry-banana smoothie.
The Nutribullet is one of the loudest blenders and has been known to measure 100 decibels. By comparison, a jackhammer is only 80 decibels. While most blenders are loud, the NutriBullet is possibly the loudest blender on the market. But sometimes the noise is caused by a burned-out motor.
All Vitamix's noise levels are in a safe rangeThe quietest Vitamix's noise is in the high 80 decibels. And the loudest Vitamix is in the high 90's. Of course, some people don't mind. They say, “hey, blenders are loud; Vitamix's are powerful, so some noise is to be expected.”

Here's our picks for the Best Ninja Blenders.
- Ninja Professional Countertop Blender – Best to Buy in 2020.
- Ninja Intellisense Kitchen System – Best Smart Ninja Blender.
- Ninja Mega Kitchen System – Best for Smoothies.
- Ninja BL456 Nutri Edge, Gray – Best Ninja Blender Under 100.
The decibel level simply means the amount of noise produced. Most blenders produce about 88 dB when in use. This is in contrast to the 68 dB produced by human conversations. This essentially means that a blender should have a decibel level of around 68-70 dB for it to be considered a quiet one.
The Ninja Professional BL610 1000-Watt is a great blender for tackling ice and other tough stuff, and it'll make light work of your typical smoothie recipe. There are some nice touches on this blender, but we were disappointed that it didn't have a better warranty or more preset speeds.
The BlendJet One is a fun, surprisingly powerful, and space-saving personal-sized blender that's designed to go where you go. The compact size and ability to charge via a USB port make it a great choice for travel; the only downside is its limited capacity, but if it were any bigger, it wouldn't be as portable.
The best NutriBullets you can buy, in order of preference
- NutriBullet 600 Series. The best NutriBullet for most people.
- NutriBullet 900 Series. Extra power and more volume for bigger smoothies.
- NutriBullet Balance. NutriBullet's first smart nutrition system.
- NutriBullet Rx.
- NutriBullet Blender.
If you are unfortunate enough to get your hands on The Magic Bullet, I recommend you NEVER puree hot soups in this. In the manual, it says that when blending hot liquids, you should remove the clear centerpiece of the lid so it can vent. The Magic Bullet only comes with one speed setting: obnoxiously loud and fast.
The biggest difference between The Magic Bullet and the Ninja blender is the blenders motor. The Magic Bullet has 200 watts of power and the Ninja Pro has 900 watts of power. The Ninja's powerful motor produces far superior results to The Magic Bullet. Each blender comes with different accessories.
It's carefully designed blades and 600 Watt motor are exclusively for tearing through fruits, nuts and vegetables and turning them into nutritious drinks. The Magic Bullet is not nearly as powerful with its 250 Watt motor, but its blades designs allow for other functions like chopping and grating.
Quiet Down Your Kitchen
- Lower your ceiling and leave a cavity in the middle that helps buffer the noise but still gives it a place to go.
- Dishwashers are notorious noisemakers.
- The ventilation fans in range hoods that suck out smoke and smells can be located in an attic instead of above the stove.
I use the flat blade that comes with the Magic Bullet and the small cup. Place 1/2 cup of almonds into the small blender cup, and attach the flat blade. Blend for a few seconds. Sometimes an almond will get stuck under the blade so you may have to remove the bottom and get that almond unstuck.
High speed machines in particular are noisier. Bearings, gears, fans and the load (e.g. blender blades) are generally noisier than the motor. To minimize materials, the motor iron is run harder (at higher magnetic flux density). This causes saturation and considerable noise from torque pulsation and magnetostriction.
Cross Blade and Flat Blade The Magic Bullet comes with two blades: a Cross Blade for chopping, grating and blending foods such as onions, cheeses, meats and frozen drinks, and a Flat Blade for whipping cream and grinding hard foods like coffee beans and spices. Do not put the blades in the dishwasher.

Universal motors are called "universal" because they are happy to run either off of AC or DC electric power. These motors produce so much noise because the brushes rub on the slotted armature. In circular saws and drills, you also have gear train noise.
The quietest blender in the world is the Vitamix Quiet One Blender with a noise level of only 64 decibels. It boasts to be 80% quieter than normal blenders. Many people think the Blendtec Professional 800 Blender is the quietest because it is marketed as “the world's quietest blender” by the manufacturer.
The blades on your food processor could be causing a grinding or squealing sound when you operate it. The core of this issue is the shaft which can be attached to the motor by a stem. If this part becomes worn, cracked, or broken, the motor can become overworked or misaligned, resulting in a grinding noise.
