The bathing area is approximately 1430m in length. Templetown Beach is justifiably proud of its Blue Flag beach status. It is located approx 20km north east of Dundalk.
Murlough is a vast, five-mile long, golden sand beach, nestling under the beautiful Mourne Mountains. The closest parking is the Murlough National Nature Reserve Car Park, located next to Lazy BJ Ranch and Mourneview Caravan Parks. There are also toilets here.
Great beach for kids in that there are no distractions so one can swim, build sandcastles, picnic, exercise or walk the dog.

What was Belfast's Bloody Sunday? The Ballymurphy Massacre was a series of events that took place between August 9 and 11, 1971. It saw British soldiers from the 1st Battalion, Parachute Regiment kill eleven civilians in Ballymurphy in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The killings became known as Belfast's “Bloody Sundayâ€.

Tuna Triathlon Club now use the South lake on a Monday evening at 7.00pm from the sports centre. I swam as their guest but the club website does ask for all swimmers to be members, wear their wetsuit and have completed at least a 1500m continuous swim in the pool.
