Most visitors to Indonesia may enter without a visa. However, some countries must first obtain a visa from one of the Indonesian diplomatic missions before being allowed to enter Indonesia. All visitors must hold a passport valid for 6 months as well as a valid return ticket.
You may extend a Visa-on-Arrival one time for a maximum of 30 additional days, for another $35 USD. Diplomatic or official passport holders should not apply for Visa-on-Arrival, and should either use visa exemption if staying in Indonesia less than 30 days, or obtain a visa in advance if staying longer than 30 days.
To stay longer than 60 days you will have to have an invitation letter from an Indonesian citizen. Then you can apply for a social visa at the Indonesian Embassy.
