What is the movie disobedience about?
New York photographer Ronit Krushka flies to London after learning about the death of her estranged father. Ronit is returning to the same Orthodox Jewish community that shunned her decades earlier for her childhood attraction to Esti, a female friend. Their fortuitous and happy reunion soon reignites their burning passion as the two women explore boundaries of faith and sexuality.
Set in North London, it tells the story of a woman who returns to the strict Orthodox Jewish community for her father's funeral after living in New York for many years, having been estranged from her father and ostracised by the community for a reason that becomes clearer as the story unfolds.
The end of the film also notably strays from the book, in that the novel's Esti, even after briefly rekindling her romance with Ronit and coming clean about it to her community, stays in Hendon to raise a child with Dovid.
Esti and Ronit part at the end of the film, but it's suggested that they're going to keeps tabs on one another, and possibly reunite again in the future. It's not a happy ending per se, but it's not the tragic outcome so often seen in LGBTQ+ stories.
What destroyed these nations is sin – disobedience to God's word. It is arrogantly doing what God says not to do. Then when God keeps warning, sending His prophets and humans don't pay attention: then we rouse His anger, then the drastic consequences of sin emerge; sometimes it becomes extremely fatal.
Civil Disobedience is effective because it creates a lose-lose situation for whatever Power the Disobedience is directed towards. Civil disobedience provides a check against totalitarianism by showing that citizens won't follow unjust laws and that there are limits to the use of discipline.

Gosling and McAdams eventually began dating in 2005, long after The Notebook had come and gone from theaters. It was “quite a while after the movie,” McAdams told Elle in its April 2007 issue.
The movie is based on a true story.
Yup, there's a real life Noah and Allie. Nicholas Spark's book is based on his ex-wife Cathy's grandparents. That was the day Nicholas heard the story of how the couple met, which later inspired The Notebook. She Wasn't His Soulmate
Like most couples, Gosling and McAdams ultimately broke up because they knew they weren't “the one” for each other. They weren't supposed to be together. If they were, they would still be dating today. They would have the perfect love story like Noah and Allie, who are soulmates. Who is dating Rachel McAdams?
Yup, there's a real life Noah and Allie. Nicholas Spark's book is based on his ex-wife Cathy's grandparents. The couple was together for 60 years and Nicholas's ex was very close to them.
They are meeting, again, after a 14-year separation, which followed their brief but passionate summer romance when her family was visiting the town. They were separated by class, as she was the daughter of a wealthy family, and he worked as a laborer in a lumberyard.
