The first: absolutely no alcohol all 30 days. This includes cooking with wine. Whole30 is meant to be a kind of radical body cleanse, and for that reason the inventors also ask people to refrain from smoking during the 30 days of the fast.
The Whole30 isn't a weight loss diet. You won't count or restrict calories, skip meals, or eliminate carbs. You'll eat real, whole food to satiety, with no pills, powders, or shakes required. You're not even allowed to step on the scale—that's how serious we are!
Basically all fruits and veggies are acceptable on Whole30, so your favorite apples, bananas, berries, and the like are fair game. The same can't be said for your green breakfast smoothie, however.
All fruit, including dates, are allowed on your Whole30.
Try tequila or distilled vodka, and skip the sugary mixers or gluten-filled beer.”

In this next phase of your Whole30, you'll get to reintroduce the delicious foods you've been missing, and paying attention to their impact. Reintroducing food groups carefully and systematically one at a time will help you learn each affects your energy, sleep, mood, cravings, digestion, allergies, or migraines.
Even though Whole30 explicitly states that it is not a weight-loss plan, I fully admit that I wanted to lose weight, and to my own surprise (and disbelief), I've ended up losing more than 60 pounds since I did my first round of the program.
Can I Eat Bacon on the Whole30? Yes, you sure can! One, you need to read the labels carefully to make sure it is sugar-free, nitrate-free, and free of the Whole30 banned additives. Two, they strongly suggest that it is made from pastured pigs that are humanely raised.
No: Avoid for 30 days. Do not consume added sugar, real or artificial. This includes (but is not limited to) maple syrup, honey, agave nectar, coconut sugar, date syrup, monk fruit extract, stevia, Splenda, Equal, Nutrasweet, and xylitol. If there is added sugar in the ingredient list, it's out.
However, steak in itself is Whole30-approved, and with the right cooking methods and additional ingredients, you can enjoy it as much as you like without breaking the rules of the 30-day eating plan. The only thing better than steak is steak and bacon.
Is mayo allowed on Whole30? Yes! Mayonnaise the condiment is definitely allowed, but “standard” mayonnaise like Hellman's is not, since it almost always has sugar, canola oil, soybean oil, etc. This Whole30 mayo is absolutely compliant, but if you need to buy some in a pinch, check out Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil Mayo.
Nope. You can't have ANY dairy on the Whole30, including milk, cream, cheese, or ice cream.
This Whole30 sriracha is totally Whole30 compliant and perfectly spicy and garlicky. Made in minutes with only a few ingredients, this Whole30 sriracha belongs in every Whole30 fridge for sure!
White potatoes are now allowed on the Whole30—but you still can't have French fries or potato chips. Also, any kind of salt is fine-even the iodized stuff that contains dextrose. (You were probably already eating table salt anyway, so this one is really not a big deal.)
Sweet potatoes are a must-have staple for any Whole30 diet. Known for their versatility, high fiber, and antioxidants, it's one food you can't forget to put on your menu. These Whole30 sweet potato recipes will definitely make your 30 days a lot more fun and flavorful!
Whole30 founder Melissa Hartwig called this the first-ever Whole30-approved almond milk in 2016. It's got only four ingredients: water, organic almonds, organic acacia gum, and sea salt. You've seen this in literally every grocery store, and now you know: Yes, you can drink it while doing Whole30.
It turns out, the Whole30 team never really had a thing against white potatoes in and of themselves — at least, not once they dropped their initial Paleo framework. White potatoes are great! There is a reason they are a global staple: They are good sources of potassium, Vitamin C, and fiber (eat the skin).
All varieties of tea are allowed while on Whole30 including black, green white and herbal teas. But my favorite for flavor by far are herbal teas. Herbal teas can add a sweetness and flavor with their ingredients that I don't find in other varieties.
While the Environmental Working Group says "natural flavors" aren't linked to any ill health effects, it's still confusing to see them on a label. We'd prefer ingredient transparency, but don't rule out natural flavors on the Whole30.
It's clear right in the Whole30 program rules: No slips, no cheats, no special occasions. The Whole30 has no breaks. If you want to do the Whole30, then DO IT, and either start after the special occasion or figure out how to enjoy your life without mojitos and cheese.
