Today, Disney announced that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be coming to Disney+ two months early. Now everyone with a Disney+ account can watch the entire Skywalker saga to honor the holiday.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will debut on Disney Plus on May 4th — “Star Wars Day,” of course — the company announced today, bringing the final Star Wars film to the streaming service.
That Star Wars movie premiered in theaters on December 15, 2017. Roughly six months later, it landed on Netflix on June 26, 2018. So based on that pattern, it's likely we'll see Rise of Skywalker release on Disney+ about six months from now. in late June 2020.
When you look at the vast content library, the $6.99 price tag is worth it. Yes, Disney will inevitably raise the price over the years, but even if it reaches a comparable-to-Netflix $11.99/month, Disney+ has the goods. The test for Disney+ originals will be if they can keep pulling people in with exciting content.

Unfortunately (for Netflix subscribers), Disney/Lucasfilm knows how valuable the franchise is, and has made Disney+ the sci-fi saga's streaming home. As far as major streaming platforms go, that's about it. Sadly, none of the Star Wars films are available via subscriptions to Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, or Sling TV.
Sling TV is letting viewers in the U.S. watch nine Star Wars movies completely for free all week, including Episodes I through VIII plus Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Viewers can sign up to stream at Sling TV's website without a cable account or credit card.

- Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
- Episode III - Revenge of the Sith (2005)

Disney Plus is an on-demand, ad-free streaming service with a growing collection of movies and shows from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and 20th Century Fox. The streaming platform costs $6.99/month or $69.99/year after a seven-day free trial.
The best way to watch the Star Wars films is in release order: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, and The Last Jedi.
Baby Yoda: Everything we know about The Mandalorian star. Hot property, he is. Learn about him, you must. His name's not Yoda, and he's only kind of a baby, but The Mandalorian character who's been dubbed Baby Yoda, and is officially called "The Child," is the breakout star of the newish Disney Plus streaming service.
Star Wars fan Rod Hilton released his own order of watching the films called Machete Order, which calls for fans to watch Episode IV and V and then II and III from the prequel trilogy, before returning to VI to end the series. Hilton has updated his blog to accommodate for the newer Star Wars films.
Netflix. Unfortunately (for Netflix subscribers), Disney/Lucasfilm knows how valuable the franchise is, and has made Disney+ the sci-fi saga's streaming home. If you're looking to watch Solo: A Star Wars Story, you're in luck. The 2018 spinoff film is still available on the service as of January 2020.
As such when George Lucas was making Star Wars, he wanted to capture the space opera serial feeling as thoroughly as possible by subtitling them with the episode number — starting with “Episode IV” to make audiences feel like they'd come into the middle of an ongoing series.
When Star Wars: Episode IV: A New Hope was first released it was simply "Star Wars". Lucas apparently wanted to call it Episode IV as an homage to old serials, not literally as a 4th episode in a larger story, but the studio thought it was a bad idea to confuse audiences, so the title was dropped.
So here's our preferred order:
- Episode IV: A New Hope.
- Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
- Episodes I-III.
- Solo: A Star Wars Story.
- Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
- Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
- Episodes VII-IX.
Here are the "Star Wars" movies, ranked for worst to best:
- "The Force Awakens" (2015)
- "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016)
- "Return of the Jedi" (1983)
- "Revenge of the Sith" (2005)
- "Attack of the Clones" (2002)
- "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" (2019)
- "Solo: A Star Wars Story" (2018)
- 11. " The Phantom Menace" (1999)
