The IRS withheld a part of your refund while they do further verification for a particular credit like the Earned Income Credit. In this instance the IRS will send you a partial refund now and will release the remainder of your credit once they have completed the verification process.
If you request an accelerated refund, you will receive it before your return is even processed. However, the amount of your refund could change further to the review of your return. You can request an accelerated refund if you meet all of the following conditions: You are claiming a refund of $3,000 or less (line 474).
Coronavirus (COVID-19)The solidarity tax credit is a refundable tax credit for low- and middle-income families. Since it is based on your situation on December 31 of the previous year, the amount of your credit for the period from July 2020 to June 2021 will be based on your situation on December 31, 2019.
An accelerated return essentially means that Quebec Revenu sends you your refund before processing your return. You can also use the CRA's My Account to check on information related to refunds and return processing.
Now, with a free IRS e-file, you can get your refund in as little as 8 days from when you file, if you elect for direct deposit. For 9 out of 10 taxpayers, the IRS issued refunds in less than 21 days from the date the return was received last year.

Your notice of assessment (NOA) is an evaluation of your tax return that the Canada Revenue Agency sends you every year after you file your tax return. Your NOA includes the date we checked your tax return, and the details about how much you may owe, or get as a refund or credit.
Report the amount shown in box 14 of your T4E slip, minus any amount shown in box 18 (if applicable). If you have already repaid excess benefits you received directly to the payer of your benefits, you may be able to claim a deduction. See line 232.
The notice of assessment we send you is an itemised account of the amount of tax you owe on your taxable income. It also contains other details that are not part of the assessment, such as the amount of credit you have for tax already paid during the income year.
There are two ways you can get your Notice of Assessment:
- By mail: Canada Revenue Agency mails it to you via the mailing address on your tax return.
- By CRA Online Mail: Canada Revenue Agency notifies you that your assessment is available for you to view via CRA Online Mail.
