Newfound black hole may be the closest to Earth. A small black hole orbits with a red giant star about 1,500 light-years from Earth, and the tug of the black hole on the star revealed the invisible object to astronomers.
Five planets have been known since ancient times — Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. The first new planet discovered was Uranus. It was discovered by the English astronomer Sir William Herschel in 1781.

Researchers have discovered a new Earth-sized planet orbiting a star outside our solar system. The planet, called Kepler-1649c, is only around 1.06 times larger than Earth, making it very similar to our own planet in terms of physical dimensions.
According to the International Astronomical Union, the organization charged with naming all celestial bodies and deciding on their statuses, Pluto is still not an official planet in our solar system. Soon after Pluto was discovered in 1930, it was designated a planet, the ninth in our solar system.
They culminated the two year process by reaching a unanimous consensus for a proposed new definition of the word “planet.” If the proposed Resolution is passed, the 12 planet in our Solar System will be Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Charon and 2003 UB313.
Charon—the name of Pluto's largest moon—is a ferryman in the service of Pluto, or Hades.
The best-known myth involving Pluto or Hades is the abduction of Persephone, also known as Kore ("the Maiden").
When Pluto was first discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930, he was given the honor of giving it a name. The name Pluto was suggested by Venetia Burney, an 11-year old school girl in England. She was interested in ancient mythology, and thought that Hades, the Greek god of the underworld, made a good name.

It contains the asteroid belt as well as the terrestrial planets, Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. The “gas giants” of course are Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, and Uranus. So now we have eight planets instead of the nine we used to have.
1470 Carla, provisional designation 1938 SD, is a carbonaceous asteroid from the outer regions of the asteroid belt, approximately 35 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 17 September 1938, by German astronomer Alfred Bohrmann at Heidelberg Observatory in southwest Germany.
The inner planets (in order of distance from the sun, closest to furthest) are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. After an asteroid belt comes the outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
Dwarf Planet Pluto is currently in the constellation of Sagittarius.
