Konner Barr, rising fourth-year student and Morgan Davis, rising third-year student of The Ohio State University, are the new drum majors of the university's 2018 marching band. She is the first African American female to hold a drum major position ever at Ohio State.

Scholarships are available to Marching Band members who have participated in the band for at least two years. Factors such as grade point average and audition scores are taken into consideration. Unfortunately, no scholarships are available for students in the athletic bands.
Carmen Ohio was first performed by The Ohio State University Glee Club, on December 11, 1903. The word "Carmen" means "song or poem", in Latin and Spanish, and hence the translated title of the alma mater means Song of Ohio or Ohio's Song.
SOUSAPHONE SELECTION: In 1937, sousaphone player Glen Johnson was chosen by Weigel to dot the “i” and it has become the Script Ohio tradition. A fourth- or fifth-year sousaphone player is chosen to stand as the dot in the “i” of “Ohio.”
The clarinet is one of the most challenging instruments to play and maintain in any marching band. You want the best sound and performance, but you need gear that is durable, can withstand harsh weather, and won't break the bank.
Seating rows 8 and higher are allotted for visiting team fans in sections 8C and 10C. Visiting team seating can be found on the lower tier in sections 4AA, 6AA, 8AA, and 10AA.
The Ohio University Marching Band is the 245-member marching band at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Each member of the Marching 110 is required to audition for the band every season.
The name “Skull Session” is taken from a slang phrase developed in the early 20th century to describe an athletic team practice. The earliest use of the phrase in The Columbus Dispatch – based on a text search of the archive – was in 1919 to describe an Ohio Wesleyan baseball team practice.
In 2013, the band performed at four away games, a first for the band. If the football team is eligible for post-season play, the band will travel to those games as well. On away trips, there is almost always an Ohio State rally, put on by the local chapter of the OSU Alumni Association.
In 1932, the University of Michigan performed the first ever "Script Ohio," according to Ohio State University library archives. Ohio State's "Script Ohio" was designed by Director Eugene Weigel and was performed on Oct. 24, 1936 by 120 band members in a game versus Indiana.

Every football game in Ohio Stadium begins with Ramp entrance by The Ohio State University Marching Band, performed to "Buckeye Battle Cry". The tradition of Script Ohio ends with the singing of one chorus of the fight song by band members. The song is also played after every Buckeye score.
The Ohio State University Marching Band is open to all students eligible to enroll at Ohio State or a membership institution of the Higher Education Council of Columbus (HECC). Athletic Band. The Ohio State University Athletic Band performs at various Ohio State varsity sporting events during the autumn and spring semesters, with the exception of fall football games. Unlike the Marching Band, the Athletic Band includes all brass, woodwind and percussion instruments.
The Ohio State University Marching Band is comprised of 228 student musicians. The band's instrumentation is unique among college bands, patterned after the traditional British military brass band. The traditional pregame block consists of 192 members.
Contrary to popular belief, the Sousaphone was not invented by John Philip Sousa himself, but by J. W. Pepper - a Philadelphia instrument maker (who created the instrument in 1893 at Mr. Sousa's request and using several of his suggestions in its design.
