Definitely worth it! Mechanics are super deep, gameplay is addictive, online tournament mode is fun. If we define utility as "# of gameplay hours / dollars spent", this game has the highest in my entire switch collection.
According to a Nintendo representative, the only way to unlock new characters is by participating in monthly online tournaments. Those who earn a certain number of points in each tournament will instantly unlock that tournament's character.
Mario Tennis Aces is a decent arcade sports game for short bursts of fun, but I doubt you'll be playing it for hours on end in a month's time. Mario Tennis Aces Unlockable CourtsTo unlock courts in Mario Tennis Aces you need to play through the Adventure Mode (story mode). Each area that you complete will unlock at least one new court that you can play on. Completing Adventure Mode will give you access to all eight courts in the game.
From the main menu of Mario Tennis Aces, you can choose the Swing Mode option to play locally with other players. You'll hold one Joy-Con and you can use the analog stick to move your character around.

Mario Tennis Aces doesn't deviate from those standards. But as you'd expect with anything in the Mushroom Kingdom, there are a few unique ideas floating around. They make the game pretty challenging at times, especially if you face off against a real human who doesn't fall for the same tricks that the AI opponents do.
The game is solid and can be fun the first few times you play it. All in all the game is fun but for sixty dollars it should have more than just a couple of bonus game modes. If you were thinking of purchasing Super Mario Party, I believe you should get it while it's on sale.
The key is to break his racket. At most it'll take three Zone Shots to break his racket, and he's got four of them to destroy. You have to hold on in there, keeping him at the back of the court and building your meter up, but you can finish him off within two sets if you concentrate.
