This Indian Standard lays down requirements for safety goggles used for protection against hazards such as impact and dust particles that may be encountered in mining operations. The Indian Standard IS 4355 : 1977 'Fire resistant brattice cloth yirst rr~tiion)' is a necessary adjunct to this standard.

The Indestructible Shoes don't carry any CSA approvals, which may suggest they aren't allowed in some workplaces. However, its sneakers are ASTM and OSHA certified for passing impact, compression and puncture-resistance tests.
OSHA Footwear Requirements in ConstructionOSHA standards require puncture-resistant and slip-resistant footwear for construction workers. Steel-toed boots are best-suited to meet all OSHA safety boot requirements. Standards also require hearing and eye protection.
In general, the standard requires that foot protection be used whenever it is necessary by reason of hazard of processes or environment which could cause foot injury. Normally, the employer will determine which, if any, of the employees are exposed to a foot injury hazard.
Are you confused between an alloy toe and a composite toe boot? Both alloy toe caps and composite toe caps are approved by OSHA but talking of the level of safety, alloy toe caps will not crack that easily as they are made of steel counterparts.
The Different Types Of Safety Shoes For Different Job Roles
- Safety-toed shoes.
- Steel insole shoes.
- Metal Instep footwear.
- Metatarsal Shoes.
- Electric hazard shoes.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration, or OSHA, requires employees to wear non-slip shoes (slip-resistant shoes) if they work in an environment where there may be oil, water, grease, or other liquids on the floor.
S3 - All of the features as S2, plus midsole penetration resistance - meaning that these shoes are puncture proof. For example, a steel midsole prevents sharp objects from piercing through the sole. S4 - All of the features as S1, but is made from a rubber upper or entirely moulded polymer, such as a Wellington boot.
S3 safety boots are designed with versatility and water resistance in mind. Offering as much protection as S1 or S2 footwear, these units focus on the heightened prevention of water damage and adhere to EN ISO 20345 standards.
SBP: SB + puncture resistant midsole (P).
S1. On top of the basic toe protection, S1 ensures the footwear has antistatic protection, is resistant to fuel oil and has energy absorption in the heel.
The engelbert strauss safety shoes S5 offer all-round protection of the highest safety level. The puncture-resistant sole made of steel or ceramic-treated textile fibres offers sure protection against pointed or sharp objects. The waterproof plastic or rubber boots offer full protection against the wet.

The codes indicate that the footwear has met the specified requirements when tested as follows: SRA – tested on ceramic tile wetted with dilute soap solution; SRB – tested on smooth steel with glycerol; SRC – tested under both the above conditions.
The S1P standard refers to safety shoes that are appropriate for dry working environments and indoor tasks. This range of shoes can also be worn in the presence of fuel and oil.
ASTM certified footwear must include a label that indicates which safety standards that particular footwear meets. The various safety standards include: I - Impact. C - Compression.
