Typically, taking pass/fail courses won't affect your grade point average. The class is simply excluded from the GPA calculation. However, at some schools, an F in a pass/fail class will count toward your GPA.
The 4.0 scale is the most commonly used GPA scale. A 4.0 represents an A or A+, with each full grade being a full point lower: 3.0=B, 2.0=C, and 1.0=D. Pluses are an additional one-third of a point, while minuses are the subtraction of one-third of a point. For example, an A- is a 3.7, and a B+ is a 3.3.
Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) grades are not factored into your grade point average, academic probation or disqualification procedures.
Someone could graduate with some 'D' grades, as long as there were enough A's and B's to keep the GPA above water. So if a destination school takes transfers on a course-by-course basis, D grades don't count, but if they take the degree as a block, D's do count.
Full-time enrollment consists of a minimum of 12 units each semester for undergraduate students, and a minimum of 9 units each semester for graduate students. For both undergraduate and graduate students, a maximum of 1 online class (3 units) may count towards full-time enrollment each semester.
Credit/No Credit Grade (CR/NC)Undergraduate students are awarded a grade of "Credit" (CR) for work equivalent to all grades which earn 2.0 or more grade points (A through C). A grade of "No Credit" (NC) is awarded for work equivalent to all grades which earn less than 2.0 grade points (C- through F).
Colleges report GPA (grade point average) on a 4.0 scale.
The top grade is an A, which equals 4.0.

Steps to Calculate Your GPA:Once you've determined the grade points for each course, total up your semester grade points, and then total up your semester credit hours. Divide your total grade points by your total credit hours. The number that remains is your GPA.
SDSU GPA: An average based on all courses attempted at SDSU. Your SDSU GPA can be found on your transcript or degree evaluation. (Courses numbered 80-99 are not counted toward the GPA.) Major GPA: An average based on all upper division courses attempted in the major department or required by the major.
Credit/No Credit (CR/NC) is taking a course pass or fail. The grade submitted by your professor for a CR/NC course is not factored into your GPA. You will receive credit toward graduation as long as you earn least a 1.0 in the course.
A: You typically can only drop a course through WebPortal prior to the 10th day of classes (the schedule adjustment deadline). If you want to get out of a class after the schedule adjustment deadline, you must file a petition to withdraw from the course with the Registrar's Office.

Credit/NoCredit is a policy that allows you to take courses without receiving final grades that factor into your GPA calculations. Credit (CR) is earned for a class if you receive a grade A through C-. No Credit (NC) is earned if you receive a grade D+ through F for a course.

The minimum passing grade is a D, or 60%.
A 95 is excellent. A 97 is also excellent. Well, now if you are an above average student, there isn't really any grade that is good.
The grade of CR is a passing grade awarded for courses taken by Special Examination for Credit . Failing grades are not recorded. The CR grade is NOT included in the GPA.

If your grades are bad in middle school, it probably won't hurt your chances of getting into your college of choice, or even receiving scholarship offers for college, as long as you have learned what you need to learn for high school! The bad grade may be included in your high school GPA.
Undergraduate DisqualificationIf, while on probation, your semester grade point average falls below 2.0 or you do not have a 2.0 grade point average in all work attempted at SDSU after your third semester on probation, you will be disqualified.
CSU and University policy prohibit undergraduate students from repeating a course for a second time and repeating more than 28 units at SDSU.
Retaking a course may raise your student's GPA (grade point average). In many schools, if a student retakes a course, the most recent grade will replace the lower grade in the student's GPA. The earlier, lower grade will remain on the transcript, but will not be included in the GPA.
What about Credit/No Credit class? While "Credit / No Credit Classes" function almost exactly the same as Standard classes, they do not affect a student's GPA.
The No Credit Option may negatively affect a student's PACE, as a No Credit grade decreases the percentage of the passing rate for courses completed/units attempted. If a student's GPA and/or PACE falls below the minimum required, the student would no longer be eligible for financial aid for the following term.
