While there are plenty of high-level, legendary surf spots in Oahu, huge swells can be a nightmare for a less-experienced surfer. You can work up to bigger waves over time. Maui is larger than Oahu and yet it only has about 1/10th of the people living here. Maui has a pretty busy pace overall and has grown up a lot in recent years in our opinion. But jobs and the economy here are not Oahu, and job searching can be frustrating at times on the island.
The good news is that buying any kind of property on Maui is a great investment—just make sure you have all your financial ducks in a row. 2. You also want to choose a property in a community that can be permitted as a vacation rental. Buy a home that can be rented frequently to cover expenses.
