How to become a NEMT broker?
- Contact local, state, and federal agencies and discuss the possibility of getting requests for NEMT orders directly from them.

Begin by researching your local senior centers, retirement and assisted living facilities and health care providers. When they discover a NEMT provider that is dependable and has quality drivers / reservationists / vehicles, they will be eager to share you within their community.
The people who work in non emergency transportation are certified and trained professionals who appreciate the importance of the service they provide. Just as you're not required to tip your physician or your dentist, there's no rule that says you must tip your emergency medical transportation driver.
Successful applicants will posses at least the following qualifications and experience:
- Current unrestricted drivers licence.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current Criminal Record Check.
- Experience in a similar role or vehicle type preferred.
Medicare pays nothing for most nonemergency transportation. Medicare Part B pays 80 percent of the Medicare-approved amount for nonemergency ambulance services if it approves those services based on a written statement of medical necessity from the patient's doctor.

For ambulance transportation mileage, use HCPCS code A0425 (ground mileage, per statue mile) when billing mileage for both emergency and non-emergency services. When billing mileage, use either A0380 or A0425 as appropriate.
Transportation to doctor appointments is not generally covered by Original Medicare (Part A and Part B). However, it may cover non-emergency ambulance transportation to and from a health-care provider. You need to have a health condition diagnosed or treated and other forms of transportation could endanger your health.
Medicare Part B may help cover ambulatory transport to a medical facility in the event of an emergency. Life Flight is a private membership program, so Medicare does not cover the cost of membership and associated fees.

Medicare doesn't cover most dental care, dental procedures, or supplies, like cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions, dentures, dental plates, or other dental devices. Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) will pay for certain dental services that you get when you're in a hospital.
