The VerdictFor our family, the character dining wasn't worth the added cost. By arriving at Disneyland at park opening, we were able to meet with all of the classic Disney characters and took photos.
Goofy's Kitchen, prepay with tip included BEFORE being seated. 2 years ago, the last time we went to GK, we had to prepay with an 18 percent gratuity. The food was good, the characters were adequate.
While breakfast is not included with standard rooms at these hotels, there are dining options available at each of these hotels to fit every appetite and budget. Don't forget that all Disneyland Resort Hotel rooms do come with coffee makers in the room which are a huge plus for coffee drinkers like myself!

You may check availability and make your reservations online up to 60 days prior to your visit. Reservations can also be made in person on a limited basis, subject to availability.

Your options for dinner are 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey's, The Crystal Palace, Cinderella's Royal Table, Garden Grill, Hollywood and Vine, and Tusker House. Of these options, 1900 Park Fare is the least expensive meal. Here you can see Cinderella, Prince Charming, and the evil stepmother and stepsisters.
Guests are allowed to bring outside food and nonalcoholic beverages into the parks for self-consumption, provided they are not in glass containers, do not require heating, reheating, processing or refrigeration and do not have pungent odors. Inform a Security Cast Member of any food items when you enter the park.
Mickey's Tales of Adventure Breakfast Buffet will set you back $44 for adults, and $26 for kids. It seems a bit pricey, but the food is good quality and the characters interactions are great. Overall the experience was a lot of fun. Breakfast runs from 7:00 a.m. to 11:25 a.m..
You must have park admission (park ticket) to eat at a restaurant within a Disney theme park. Disney will not permit you into their theme park for a dining reservation without a park ticket.

The ones off property are nicer. However, between Paradise Pier and Disneyland Hotel, I like the Paradise Pier rooms more since they felt a bit larger; were a bit quieter (nice after a long day at the park, etc.). Side note: Grand Californian has some so-so rooms and some really nice suites if you do change the dates.
