The Canadian equivalent of the FBI is the Royal Canadian Mounted Police or RCMP. The RCMP handles national law enforcement in Canada, and the FBI handles it in the US. CSIS handles espionage and counterespionage for Canada, and the CIA handles it for the US.
After the fall of the Soviet Union, the Russian Federation moved towards a more open economy with less state intervention, and Russia became an important part of the global economy. In 1998, Russia joined the G8, a forum of eight large developed countries, six of which are members of NATO.
Current authorized strength is 71,500 Regular Force members and 30,000 Reserve Force members. The number of filled positions is lower than the authorized strength.

THE NATO-U.N. DICHOTOMY

Canada has not officially maintained and possessed weapons of mass destruction since 1984 and, as of 1998, has signed treaties repudiating possession of them. Canada ratified the Geneva Protocol in 1930 and the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty in 1970, but still sanctions contributions to American military programs.
Canada and the United Nations. Canada has been a member of the United Nations since it was established, and has served six separate terms on the UN Security Council. Canada has also participated in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
A cursory glance at the membership of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) might immediately raise questions to the unfamiliar eye. In fact, it would appear that neither Mexican nor NATO officials have ever formally mentioned the possibility or plausibility of Mexican membership in the alliance.
The U.S. currently pays $116M each year to the World Health Organization (WHO), or about 24% of the entire organization's budget. China pays the second most of any country in the world at $57M, or 12% of the organization's total. The vast majority of countries pay significantly less than the U.S. for the WHO.
It's joined above the threshold by Bulgaria (3.25%), Greece (2.28%), the United Kingdom (2.14%), Estonia (2.14%), Romania (2.04%), Lithuania (2.03%), Latvia (2.01%) and Poland (2%).
Following extensive debate, the term "Contact Countries" was agreed by the Allies in 2000. Australia and New Zealand, both contact countries, are also members of the AUSCANNZUKUS strategic alliance, and similar regional or bilateral agreements between contact countries and NATO members also aid cooperation.

Finland participates in nearly all sub-areas of the Partnership for Peace programme, and has provided peacekeeping forces to both the Afghanistan and Kosovo missions. In the vision of the Swedish People's Party of Finland, Finland will be a NATO member in 2025.
Six EU member states, all who have declared their non-alignment with military alliances, are not NATO members: Austria, Cyprus, Finland, Ireland, Malta, and Sweden.
The civil budget provides funds for personnel expenses, operating costs, and capital and programme expenditure of the International Staff at NATO Headquarters. It is financed from national foreign ministry budgets (in most countries), supervised by the Budget Committee and implemented by the International Staff.

In 2019, the United States had the largest number of military personnel out of all North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries, with 1.34 million troops. The country with the second largest number of military personnel was Turkey, with 435,000 personnel.
The policies of French President Nicolas Sarkozy resulted in a major reform of France's military position, culminating with the return to full membership on 4 April 2009, which also included France rejoining the NATO Military Command Structure, while maintaining an independent nuclear deterrent.

World's largest armies by active military personnel 2020. In 2020, China had the largest active duty military force in the world, with about 2.18 million active military personnel. India, the United States, North Korea, and Russia rounded out the top five countries with the largest active duty military forces.

The budget funds five branches of the U.S. military: the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Space Force. For Fiscal Year 2020 (FY2020), the Department of Defense's budget authority is approximately $721.5 billion ($721,531,000,000).
On 28 September 2018, Trump signed the Department of Defense appropriations bill. The approved 2019 Department of Defense discretionary budget is $686.1 billion. It has also been described as "$617 billion for the base budget and another $69 billion for war funding."
