Which is recommended.It depends a fair bit on what engine your car has. So long as your oil meets the GF4 standard, your engine will be fine. Hyundai says that using 5w-30 instead of 5w-20 will result in a slight drop in fuel economy.
Under normal driving conditions, the Sonata requires its oil to be changed roughly every 7,500 miles. That's with an assumption that you're driving about 1,000 miles each month. Under more severe driving conditions, however, Coastal Hyundai suggests changing the oil on that vehicle every 3,000 miles.
Since an oil change is such a simple job, most dealerships run fairly competitive rates with most independent shops. Generally speaking, though, it shouldn't matter much where you get your oil changed.
The reason 5W-30 and 5W-20 motor oils are so common is because they work very well with a wide range of engines. Most often, these types of oils best cover the range of possible temperatures, with a 5W-20 oil more geared toward colder climates and a 5W-30 oil more appropriate for warmer temperature extremes.
However, the lower viscosity version, 5w20, is also recommended by many vehicle manufacturers. 5w20 can provide better protection in climates with lower temperatures as the lower viscosity will improve oil movement in freezing conditions.
How often to change oil. According to research by Edmunds, most carmakers now recommend oil changes between 7,500 and 10,000 miles, although some specify 5,000-mile intervals. The type of engine oil, the age and make of your vehicle and driving habits dictate when to change engine oil.

The total engine oil capacity for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata is 4.9 quarts (4.6 liters). Hyundai advises to use SAE classification 5W-20 or 5W-30 for the 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.4L engine and 5W-40 or 5W-30 for the 2.0L turbo engine.
