Velu Narayanasamy (born 30 May 1947) is an Indian politician serving as the 10th and current Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry since June 2016. He is a member of Indian National Congress political party.
He is appointed by the President of India and sworn-in by the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. The longest serving chief minister of Puducherry is N. Rangasamy of over 12 years period from 2001 to 2008 (Indian National Congress) and from 2011 to 2016 ( All India N.R. Congress).
