There have been some accessory developments too, such as their new drywall repair kit. Ryobi positions themselves as an affordable “pro-featured” tool brand, and often targets DIYers, homeowners, and enthusiast users. Lots of professionals use Ryobi tools, others cannot imagine it, calling Ryobi a DIY tool brand.
More Power
Brushless types of drills are worth the extra money because you'll get a better torque value in a smaller design compared to brushed models. There's no friction to take away from the motor's torque so the circuitry puts out as much power as possible to the work at hand.Yes, Ryobi is more of a consumer brand, but I have seen plenty of pros use them too. Ryobi's 18V One+ cordless power tool lineup is quite good. There's plenty of product selection, and a lot of the tools are at least usable. It's one of the best value brands around.
The Ryobi Tools brand in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand is licensed by Techtronic Industries of Hong Kong, an original equipment manufacturer for brands such as Milwaukee, AEG (AEG Powertools, licensed from Electrolux), Ryobi, Homelite, Hoover US, Dirt Devil, and Vax.

Who Makes the Best Tools?
- Milwaukee – 36 votes.
- Makita – 35.
- DeWalt – 27.
- Hilti – 18.
- Hitachi – 13.
In terms of performance and quality, Makita hands down makes the better tools: better construction, more powerful and efficient, better durability, longer battery life…. Just better all around. On the other hand, it's really hard to ignore the fact that you can typically save a lot of money by going with Ryobi.
In all honesty, there's not much difference between Black and Decker and Ryobi cordless drills. Both can help you do the work that's needed for your home repair and maintenance. The only difference that I think you should know is that with Ryobi, the battery and the charger are separately sold.

When it comes to warranty the Milwaukee drill is a better choice because it covers five years while the Dewalt drill is only covered for a period of three years. Both of these drills give exceptional power meaning that you can get the job done within a short time.
Power Drills: DeWalt is the clear winner here as their hammer drill is more powerful, heavy duty and with more speed settings. Impact Drivers: Makita wins here thanks to its impact driver's higher torque and speeds. Reciprocating Saws: The longer stroke length and more efficiency give Makita a slight edge.

One of the most significant differences between Ryobi and Milwaukee is their prices. In general, Ryobi power tools are less expensive than Milwaukee's, and their 12-volt and 18-volt drills are no exception. As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, Ryobi's target market are homeowners.
Harbor Freight's new 20v cordless batteries ARE Dewalt knock-off's but are NOT cross-compatible. For starters, the HF batteries will not slide all the way into Dewalt tools because they added a tab on the rail and a cutout on the HF tools for it to fit in.
It allows your Dewalt to share batteries with Worx Power Tools, saving money. For a long time do not use, please separate from the battery.
Will all 18v batteries work with all 18v tools? Yes, with the exception of Lithium-ion batteries. These batteries will not charge on Ni-cad chargers. As one of the world's largest and most innovative power tool manufacturers, RYOBI specializes in making pro-featured power tools truly affordable.
Standard DeWalt 20 volt batteries are compatible with all 20-volt tools, as well as all 20-volt chargers. This means that once you join the DeWalt platform, you have access to over 100 products that all use the same battery technology. DeWalt 20v MAX batteries can't be used in FlexVolt 60v and 120v MAX tools, however.
Yes, the lithium batteries will work just fine in any of the older (blue) 18 volt Ryobi products. You will have to buy a lithium battery charger though. Do not attempt to use the old NiCad charger
A battery adapter so you can use Ryobi One batteries with Sears Craftsman 19.2v tools.
All Flexvolt batteries for cordless power tools, such as the 12.0 AH, 9.0 AH and 6.0 AH, are all interchangeable with the 20v to 60v Dewalt power tools. If you are using a 120v cordless tool, then no problem.
The One+ batteries are 18v Lithium-Ion and include a "push in" style fitting that is completely interchangeable with the entire range of One+ tool's. The system is also compatible with the older style "push in" One+ NICAD batteries.
So, how long do Lithium-ion batteries last? To sum it all up, the bare minimum that most manufacturers expect from their batteries is around 3 years or 1,000 charging cycles.
Ryobi brand power tools sold in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, will remain available in these regions, with Techtronic Industries Co., Ltd., a Hong Kong-based company that has no capital relationship with Ryobi, continuing as the manufacturer and distributor of these products.

Basically the difference is the blue was the old nicad batteries the green use the new lithium ones. But as stated previously the specs of the drill matter. Some drills are hammer drills, some regular, etc. You need the exact model to compare between the two because some of the old blue drills were pretty good too.
