- Place the desired measure on the Color shelf.
- Right-click the caret in the upper right corner of the Color card and select Edit Colors.
- Check the Stepped Color box and choose 2 steps.

By default, the data type for a new parameter is float, which means any number including decimals, but there are five additional data types to choose from: Integer: Any whole number (i.e. no decimals) String: Text. Boolean: True or false. Date: Date without a timestamp.
Right Click on the measure dropped under Marks Card and Click on "Format". You will be provided with the options to change the format of the numbers in "Pane". Select "Numbers" and Click on the "Percentage" and increase/decrease the Percentage Decimals.

Hi Rushi, you don't need to format it explicitly like that in the case statement (unless you're trying to combine strings into it for some reason). Instead, just keep it as a number and change the formula to Currency with zero decimals. Right-click the field, go to "Default Properties", then "Number Format".
13. Re: How do you format negative number in (Red) & in parenthesis in Tableau? If you drag "Measure Values" onto the Color box in the Marks card, you can edit the colors for all measures, instead of just one. Then the individual values in each row will be red/black, etc.

To display percentage values as labels on a pie chart
- Add a pie chart to your report.
- On the design surface, right-click on the pie and select Show Data Labels.
- On the design surface, right-click on the labels and select Series Label Properties.
- Type #PERCENT for the Label data option.
A Parameter is any value passed to a program in order to customize the program for a particular purpose. A parameter could be anything: A string of text, a range of values, or an amount just to name a few. A parameter will allow you to provide a value to pass into Tableau.
Create a calculated field
- In Tableau, select Analysis > Create Calculated Field.
- In the Calculation Editor that opens, do the following: Enter a name for the calculated field.
- When finished, click OK. The new calculated field is added to Measures in the Data pane because it returns a number.
If the data is not given on the pie chart you can still calculate the percentage each slice is worth or how many items of data are in each slice (if given the total amount of data). To calculate the percentage each slice is worth, measure the angle of each slice and divide this by 360 then multiply it by 100.

A Workbook is a collection of Views. When publishing to Tableau Server, you can elect to display one or more of the Views in a Workbook (assuming you have more than 1 worksheet/dashboard). Any Views you select to display are put out on the Server and can be accessed by a specific url from within your network.

- Place your worksheet in a dashboard.
- Right click the axis label and select Hide Field Labels for Columns.
- Create a text box with your desired axis label (in this case "Iterations") and place it below the chart. Your headers and your DIY, home-brewed, hacktastic axis label will now both be at the bottom.
