How to Do It
- Hold the DVD, Blu-ray Disc, or CD by the edges or by placing your finger through the center hole.

How to Fix a Scratched DVD
- Clean the disc with a mild soap and warm water. This will remove any oils and finger marks.
- Dry the disc with a lint-free cloth.
- Squeeze toothpaste on the disc.
- Rub the toothpaste on the disc in a straight motion (not in a circular motion) from the center to the outer edges.
- Wash off the toothpaste and dry the disc.
Blu-rays have a scratch resistant coating on them, and they're very easy to clean. I just mix 1/4 of rubbing alcohol and the rest with tap water in a spray bottle and, wipe the disc with a non-abrasive soft cloth, and the disc will look brand new.
If you don't have a Gamecrazy around, Family Video also offers disc resurfacing. Not sure how much they charge though. They're a little bit pricey, but totally worth it.
Incredibly, scratches in the surface of a CD or DVD can be fixed with softened wax! As with the toothpaste fix, you can use shoe polish, lip balm, furniture wax, or even petroleum jelly. Again, rub it into the surface of the disc to fill the scratch.
Just smear 'em on, wipe 'em off and get your pristine and playable disc back:
- A Banana.
- Peanut Butter.
- Furniture Polish.
- Metal Polish.
- Window Cleaner.
- Eye Glass Cleaner.
- Baking Soda Toothpaste.
Disc will not play in Blu-ray player. There are several reasons a disc may not play in the Blu-ray player. A dirty or scratched disc is the most obvious cause, but an incorrect region code or configuration of your home theater system can be the reason as well.

How to Reset a Bd-P1500 Blu-Ray Player

Steps to open the disc tray
- Turn off your device.
- Unplug the power cord or AC adapter.
- Leave the device unplugged for 30 seconds.

Try other types of discs to see if the problem is with specific types or with all media. Wipe thoroughly with lint free cloth. Unplug the DVD Player from power source and let sit for one minute. Clean the CD/ DVD / Blu-Ray Disc player's laser lens, using a lense cleaner.
To resolve the issue:
- Try to restart the Blu-ray Player (unplug it, then plug it back in).

Unplug the player, then hold the Power button for 20 seconds to discharge any lingering current in the Blu-ray player. Next, plug it back in, press Stop, and then try to eject the disc.

Most of the time DVD freezes are caused by debris, but if the DVD is physically damaged, there may be nothing oyu can do. This is because commercial DVDs are dual-layered, and the second layer of image may be closer the top and the bottom. Luckily, most of the time, DVD freezes are caused by crud.
I would NOT recommend using the Windex wipes. There is a possibility that you would get some of the liquid onto the printed side of the DVD, and it may remove the ink! I wouldn't do it. Just breathe lightly on it, then wipe with a microcloth that is often sold in eye-wear stores.
If your DVD skips or freezes, it is a sign of a problem with the disc or the player. Anything that obstructs the laser's ability to reflect off the inner surface of the disc can cause playback issues, as can problems with the data itself.
A "skip" or "jump" is when the laser of a Compact Disc player cannot read the faulty groove or block of data. Skips are usually caused by marks blocking the path of the beam to the disc, e.g. a finger mark, hair, dirt in general, or a scratch.
CD and DVD players have a laser lens that needs to be cleaned periodically. To maintain your DVD player, occasionally unscrew the player's case, so you can get at the lens to clean it. You need a screwdriver, canned air or a soft brush, a foam swab or camera-lens cleaner, and lens cleaning fluid from a camera store.
