Oil reserves are found all over the world. However, some have produced more oil than others. The top oil producing countries are Saudi Arabia, Russia, the United States, Iran, and China. In the United States, petroleum is produced in 31 states.
Water distillation, water and steam distillation, steam distillation, cohobation, maceration and enfleurage are the most traditional and commonly used methods. Maceration is adaptable when oil yield from distillation is poor.
Solvent Extraction. Solvent extraction refers to preferential dissolution of oil by contacting oilseeds with a liquid solvent. This is the most efficient technique to recover oil from oilseeds.
The idea is to bruise and crush the leaves well so that they'll release the maximum amount of their fragrance. Empty the crushed leaves into a ½ gallon container. Pour 1 cup of olive oil or grapeseed oil into the jar. Cap it tightly and set it on a sunny windowsill or other warm spot for about 48 hours.
Such crops include: coconuts, yielding coir from the mesocarp; kapok fruit; seed cotton; linseed; and hempseed. In the case of several other crops, both the pulp of the fruit and the kernels are used for oil. The main crops of this type are oil-palm fruit and tallow tree seeds.
All seeds store up oil or starch for this purpose. The amount of fat in plants is said to be in nearly an inverse ratio to the amount of starch and sugar which they contain, ranging from ^7 per cent in the brazil nut to only 1 per cent in barley.
