Reddit is preparing to do away with a feature that some believe facilitates stalking and harassment: anonymous followers. The social media site will soon tell you which users follow your account. Currently, you can only view how many followers you have, not their specific user handles.
Following someone is essentially subscribing to their profile, if they post to their profile then it's available on your feed. But most people don't do that. IME the only benefit to following is that it puts their profile on your drop down (below your subs).
'Followers' is only a feature of the new profile and you're not using the new profile. You can sign up for the new profile with the link below. Once you have the new profile, it should list the number of followers on your profile page under your karma count. Not getting anything on that link, just the right to reply.
Karma is Reddit's scoreboard for each account where it uses upvotes or downvotes as its point system. You gain points when your posts or comments are upvoted and you equally lose points when they are downvoted. You can view a user's karma at the top of the sidebar in their profile page.
See Who's Following You
If you've allowed people to follow you, you can see a list of your followers by going to your profile, clicking Friends below your cover photo and then clicking More > Followers. If you don't have any followers, you won't see this option.You add them as a "friend" on reddit.
- Go to your reddit preferences page. Click on 'preferences' in the taskbar at the top right of your screen.
- Click on the 'friends' tab.
- Where it says "ADD A FRIEND", type in the username of the redditor you want to follow.
- Click on 'add'.
- Done. This person is now a "friend".
How to delete a Reddit account
- Go to Reddit.com.
- Log in to your Reddit account.
- Go to “User Settings”
- Click “Deactivate Account”
- Enter your information and click “deactivate”
Without an account, you cannot edit subscriptions. Click on "Edit >>" in the upper right corner. It should be right above "preferences.
Go to your Reddit preferences and choose the 'deactivate' tab at the top of the screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to delete your account. You will need to know your account password in order to delete your account. If you do not know it, and haven't stored it anywhere, there is nothing you can do.
On the desktop site, go to /subreddits/ and you'll find a list of subreddits (= communities) you're subscribed to at the right, complete with an unsubscribe button for each of them.
Go to the reddit search bar and search for the name of the community you no longer want to follow. It should come up (along with 2 other related communities). The button to the right will be white and says 'Joined'. if you mouse over the 'Joined' button you get the 'leave' option.
