Sometimes when Sims 2 is crashing in Windows 10, it can be due to a temporary issue that can be fixed by restarting your computer or device. This resets anything running in the memory that can cause the game to crash. To do this, click Start>Power>Restart.

Re: Downloading sims 2 without disk drive
If you still have your game keys an EA Game Advisor can add the game to your Origin account and you can then play without disc. As Sims 2 is an older game you'll have to contact an EA Game Advisor to have it added to your Origin account.The Sims 2 is currently not available for purchase on Origin, so if you want the game this is the only way to get it at this time. EA has announced that they will no longer support the title, which already has a sequel available and another about to release.
How to Install The Sims 2 + Expansions on Windows 10 (TS2upd.exe Error)
- Install the Sims 2 normally from disc.
- Copy the files from inside the downloaded zip and folder to "c:Program Files (x86)EA GAMESThe Sims 2" and confirm to override the files already there.

If you really do want to start the game again. Delete and reinstall, go through the process of creating a sim and the tutorial. Then when it gives you the option to continue a saved game or create new, hit create new.

- Open the folder DocumentsElectronic Arts.
- Rename the The Sims 4 folder in to The Sims 4_Backup.
- Start the game.

It is possible onedrive is moving the game user data to the cloud. When this happens the game will reset because the game can't find it in the cloud. Or just disable onedrive if you don't use the cloud to backup your data.
