Bridport is in the county of Dorset in South West England. Measured directly, it is about 14 miles (23 km) west of the county town Dorchester, 15.5 miles (25 km) SSW of Yeovil in Somerset, 33 miles (53 km) east of Exeter in Devon and 1.5 miles (2.4 km) inland from the English Channel at West Bay.

The popular ITV crime drama was primarily filmed in the Jurassic Coast harbour village of West Bay, Dorset. While the backdrop of West Bay – also known as Bridport Harbour - is used due to its spectacular cliffs and scenery. The street scenes in Broadchurch are filmed in Clevedon, Bristol.
The East side of the main West Bay Beach is considered safest to swim from, with the cliffs providing a stunning backdrop. The West Bay Wallow takes place in the Harbour every Boxing Day. Leather Back Turtles have been spotted in this location during summer and it's a lifeguarded beach during peak times.
Just a mile due south of Bridport and well-connected to it by buses, West Bay is a bustling village with a selection of pubs and restaurants. A wide, sandy beach is cut in half by the harbour and there is a cliff top walk to Burton Bradstock.
Broadchurch is back as dramatic cliffs and golden sands provide the stunning backdrop to the gritty third and final series. However fans may have trouble visiting the glorious seaside town because it doesn't actually exist.
Broadchurch was a combination of Broadoak and Whitchurch Canonicorum villages, both near Bridport.
Lyme Regis & CharmouthPublic toilets are open on Marine Parade, Monmouth Beach car park and at the bottom of Broad Street. Four main car parks (Monmouth Beach, Charmouth Road, Woodmead and Holmbush) are OPEN. Charmouth's main beachside car parks are OPEN as well.
There are (accessible) public toilets in a separate building at the rear of the Centre.
Lyme Regis Town Council has decided to open Monmouth Beach and Woodmead car parks, as well as the toilets on Marine Parade, supported by Dorset Council which will open Holmbush car park and Monmouth Beach toilets.
Dogs. Dogs are not permitted on East Beach and West Beach during the summer months between 1st May and 30th September. The whole of West Bay also operates a clean zone regularly patrolled by wardens, whereby dogs must be kept on a lead not exceeding 2 metres (6ft 6ins).
From LondonTurn onto the A35 (signposted Dorchester). Continue on the A35 until you arrive at Bridport. Take the B3157 to West Bay.

Family friendly. Dorset is the place to come for award winning beaches. The county boasts 25 Blue Flag and Seaside Award beaches. Soft golden sands and safe bathing waters make Weymouth a fabulous family holiday destination.
St Andrew's Church in Clevedon has been used to depict the Broadchurch parish church and graveyard. Other Clevedon filming locations include Marshall's Field and Hill Road, and the house used to represent the Latimer family home in Lavington Close.

You may remember the bluebell woods which were integral to the Sandbrook case, this was filmed in Hooke Woods near Beaminster which is just up the road from West Bay!
