Steps
- Open the app drawer. This is the list of apps on your Android.
- Tap Downloads, My Files, or File Manager. The name of this app varies by device.
- Select a folder. If you only see one folder, tap its name.
- Tap Download. You may have to scroll down to find it.
Save an image from a webpage
- In the Safari app on your Mac, Control-click the image.
- Choose Save Image to “Downloads,” Save Image As, or Add Image to Photos. Some images, such as background images, can't be saved.
You can tap on the “Downloads” tab to view all downloads. Tap on the “Files” button from the bottom-left corner to switch to the file manager. From here, tap on the “Downloads” folder to see your downloaded file. You can tap on the download to preview it in the app.
How To Download Online Videos with Safari

If you are on iOS 13, go to Settings > Safari > Downloads and check what is your download location, it should be "On my iPhone". Then, go to Files app > tap Browse at the bottom-right corner > tap on the Downloads folder.
To save an audio file to your hard drive from Safari, right-click the link for the file (not the mp3 player, but the actual link to the file) and choose Download Linked File As from the contextual menu. Another option is to Option + Click the link – this will initiate a direct download of the file.
To download a video/image, open the file in the player page then tap the file to reveal the three dots (menu) - select Save to Camera Roll then chose if you'd like to save the original full resolution clip or a proxy version.
In most Android phones you can find your files/downloads in a folder called 'My Files' although sometimes this folder is in another folder called 'Samsung' located in the app drawer. You can also search your phone via Settings > Application Manager > All Applications.
Method 1: In recent versions of Mac OSX, the downloads folder can be accessed from the Dock. Method 2: From the Finder, click Go from the menu bar and select Downloads. If you don't see a Downloads option under the Go menu, click Home. The downloads folder should also be visible in your Home folder.
Part 1: Recover Downloads Folder via Previous Version
- Step 1 Open "My Computer" or "This PC".
- Step 2 Right click on the hard drive or local folder that your Downloads folder used to be.
- Step 3 Choose "Restore Previous versions" to access all available previous versions.
- Step 4 Right click on your Downloads folder.
Just click on Date at the top of the column, and then drag it to the left. If you wanted to put the date column last, you'd do the reverse. If you then wanted to sort everything by date, single-click on the date column. Now all the files in the downloads folder will be sorted by date with the oldest items at the top.
It is at /Users/ or cmd-shift-h in Finder. The user Library has been hidden since Mountain Lion. However, it is simple to reveal. To temporarily reveal it, in Finder, hold down the Option key (alt) and select Library from the Go menu.
Here's how you use it.
- Click on the Finder icon in your Dock to open a new Finder window.
- Choose the view you want to use.
- Click on the file you want to use with Quick Look.
- Tap the space bar on your keyboard to bring up Quick Look.
- Click the action button to take an action on the file.
How to reset your Dock to its default
- Open Terminal (located in the Utilities folder).
- Type (or copy and paste) defaults delete com.apple.dock; killall Dock.
- Hit return.
One way to right click on a Mac is to press the Ctrl (or Control) key when you tap the mouse button, or the trackpad. Don't confuse the Ctrl key with the Alt (or Option) key. The Ctrl key on a Mac is not the one next to the space bar, it's at the far end of the keyboard, on either the right or left side.
Downloaded files are stored in the Downloads area on an iPhone or iPad. To access that area, go to the navigation menu and tap Downloads. There is no Downloads area on an Android device.
Use Safari to Download Needed PDF Files
- Click a PDF file link to open the PDF file in Safari on Mac;
- Go to the File menu on the top toolbar and select Export as PDF;
- Select a location on your Mac to save the PDF file to.
When you firmly press the app from the Home screen, you might see options to Resume Download, Pause Download, or Cancel Download. If the app download is paused, tap Resume Download. If it's stuck, tap Pause Download, then firmly press the app again and tap Resume Download.
The example shown will cover how to save a webpage open in Safari as a PDF document.
- Open Safari and browse to the webpage you wish to save as PDF.
- Click on the Safari option bar at the top-left of your screen and go to “File” and “Export as PDF”
- Select a name and a location and click on “Save”
If you've opened a PDF file in Safari, tap once to display a bar at the top of the screen, as shown below. Tap Open in "iBooks". If you've opened a PDF file in Mail, tap the arrow button and then tap Open in "iBooks", as shown below. The PDF file will appear on a shelf in iBooks, as shown below.
In order to stop it, go to the "Purchases" tab in the Mac App Store and click the pause button. This will stop the download. Then, go into Launchpad (F4 on the new MacBook, a four finger pinch on the trackpad, or the Rocket icon in the Dock).
For files being downloaded from the Mac App Store, the easiest way to check their progress is by mousing over the Launchpad icon in the Dock. You'll see a progress bar below the Launchpad icon and above the number of megabytes currently downloaded and the total file size.
How to download videos on iPhone from Safari
- Copy the URL of the video you want to download.
- Go to SaveFrom.net.
- Paste the URL in the Search field.
- Tap the arrow.
- Tap and hold on Download.
- In the quick action menu, tap Download Linked File.
- Tap the Downloads icon in the top-right corner.
How to Download Files on Your MacBook
- Choose Safari→Preferences or press cmd+, (comma).
- Click the General tab, and then click the Save Downloaded Files To pop-up menu.
- Choose Other.
- Navigate to the location where you want the files to be stored.
- Click the Select button.
- Click the Close button to exit Preferences.
From the Safari browser, go to the “Safari” menu and choose “Preferences” From the “General” tab look for the “File Download Location” section, and then click on the Downloads dropdown menu and choose “Downloads”
The Safari opening by itself issue can be caused by the suspicious program installed on the Mac computer. Usually, it is an adware-type virus that can also be called a potentially unwanted program. Users install these applications unintentionally, as developers often use software bundling for distribution of PUPs.
Check the Safari > General preferences; there's an option to open "Safe" files after downloading. Also note that you can open files that you have just downloaded by double-clicking on their icons in the Safari Downloads window, rather than having to navigate to your downloads folder to find and open them.
Answer: In Safari for Mavericks you can access your downloads a couple of ways. First, try going to the View menu to Show Downloads (Option+Shift+L). Or you can click on the Downloads icon (it's an arrow pointing downwards) to the right of the address bar.
If you see a message that the app can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer or wasn't downloaded from the Mac App Store, you can open the app by overriding the settings in Security & Privacy preferences. Sometimes a download is incomplete because the file was damaged. Try downloading it again.

Download the file type that you want opened automatically in the Chrome browser. You should see it displayed in the downloads bar at the bottom of the page. When it completes, click on the small arrow icon next to it and select the "always open files of this type" option.
