In the past, it's not possible to set up Alexa devices (i.e. Echo Show) without a smartphone, since the Alexa App was only available for iOS and Android devices. So, in most cases, Alexa can work without your phone as long as there's any active internet connection.

Try the following steps to resolve issues with your Echo Connect not connecting to Wi-Fi or your Echo device. Restart your Echo Connect by unplugging the power adapter from the back of the device, then plugging it back in. Check that your Wi-Fi credentials are correct. Force close the Alexa app and try setup again.

First-generation Amazon Echo (and Dot): Locate the reset button on the bottom of the Echo speaker. Then use the end of a paper clip to press and hold the button for 5 seconds. The light ring on the device will turn orange and spin, signifying that it properly reset.Sadly, two years after it's launch Amazon quietly discontinued the Echo Spot in most regions except the UK, where it's still on sale today, although it doesn't appear in the line-up of Echo devices at the top of Amazon's homepage - you'll have to search for it instead.
The action button is the button with the dot icon. To reset a 2nd generation Echo Dot, press and hold the microphone off and volume down buttons for about 20 seconds until the ring light turns orange. To reset a 1st generation Echo Dot, use a long, thin object to press the reset button underneath the device.
Action: This button performs various activities. Pressing it once has the same effect as saying the wake word for the device. It can also silence alarms, put the device into setup mode, and more. This button is either a circle or a dot.
What does it do? Like every other Echo device, the Spot listens out for your choice of wake word – the default is “Alexa†– and then starts streaming what you say to Amazon's servers, coming back with answers, information or actions on your commands. It's practically instant.
