- With the document open, go to Insert > Page Number. A dialog box will appear, where you can select the position and alignment.
- To change the font or styling of the page numbers, go to View > Header and Footer, and change it from there.
Fix page numbers from title page to before Table of Contents. Place the cursor anywhere on the title page. On the Insert tab, select Footer and click on Edit Footer. If you see a page number in the footer (at the bottom of page), select the number and press the Delete key.
On the Insert tab, click the Page Number icon, and then click Page Number. Select a location, and then pick an alignment style. Word automatically numbers every page, except designated title pages. To change the numbering style, select Format and then choose the formatting you want to use.
Make sure the document is in Print Layout view. The Page Number button is disabled in Web Layout view.
Double-click the header or footer so you can edit it. Although this action automatically opens the Design tab, highlight the page number with your cursor and click the “Home” tab. Select a new font size, style or color from the formatting drop-down menus in the Font section.
Change the default layoutOn the Format menu, click Document, and then click the Layout tab. Make any changes that you want, and then click Default.
To format page numbers:
- Select the header or footer that contains the page number.
- From the Design tab, select the Page Number command.
- Click Format Page Numbers.
- From the dialog box, select the desired Number format.
- Next to Start at, enter the number you want the page numbers to start with.
Click on the Layout tab. Select Breaks → Sections Breaks → Next Page. Put the cursor on the page where the page numbering should start (that is section two in the document). Click on the Insert tab and Page Number.

- Choose your preferred design. By default, MS Word inserts page number 3.
- Click on “Format Page Numbers”

Beginning page numbers on the second page
- On the Insert tab, in the "Header & Footer" group, click Page Number.
- Click Top of Page, Bottom of Page, or Page Margins, depending on where you want page numbers to appear in your document.
- Choose a page numbering design from the gallery of designs.

- Insert page numbers by clicking on the Inserttab and choosing Page Number in the Header & Footer Then select the position of the numbering.
- Because the new page numbers will be selected, the Designtab for Header & Footer Tools will appear.
You can use any other format instead.
- Select between the intro and the body of the document and go to Layout > Breaks > Next Page.
- In the header for the body section, deselect Link to Previous.
- Go to Header & Footer > Page Number, and then click Page Number.
- Choose the position and alignment of page numbers.
On the Insert tab, in the Header & Footer section, select Page Numbers, then Format Page Numbers. 7. For the Number Format Field, select the Roman numerals (i, ii, iii…). Then below under Page Numbering, select the “Start at” button, and then enter ii in the field.
To simply skip numbering on the first page, click the "Insert" tab in the ribbon menu, then click "Header" and "Edit Header." In the "Header & Footer Tools" menu that appears, click the "Design" tab and check the box next to "Different First Page."
In the Page Number Format dialog (select Format Page Numbers from the Page Number drop down in the Header & Footer section of the Insert tab of the ribbon), select the radio button for "Continue from previous section".
2 Go to the "Insert" tab and select either "Header" or "Footer" from the "Header and Footer" section, depending on where you want to insert page numbers. Click "Edit Header" or "Edit Footer" from the drop-down menu. The header or footer will be visible and the cursor will be active in it.
Word 2010/2013
- Open a new document, click on the Home tab, click on the Font dialog box button as shown in the screenshot below, and select the Font tab.
- Choose the font settings that you would like to make the default and click Set As Default.
- Select All documents based on the Normal.
You can also press Windows+i to quickly open the Settings window. In Settings, click “Personalization,” then select “Fonts” in the left sidebar. On the right pane, find the font that you want to set as the default and click the font name. At the top of your screen, you can see the official name of your font.
If a document uses a font that is on your system, and then that document is opened on a system that doesn't have the same font, Word will substitute a different font for the missing one. This can affect the appearance of the document, even when you subsequently open it back on your original system.
To change the font:
- Select the text you want to modify.
- On the Home tab, click the drop-down arrow next to the Font box. A menu of font styles will appear.
- Select the font style you want to use.
- The font will change in the document.
Change theme fonts
- On the Page Layout tab in Excel or the Design tab in Word, click Fonts, and pick the font set you want.
- To create your own set of fonts, click Customize Fonts.
- In the Create New Theme Fonts box, under the Heading font and Body font boxes, pick the fonts you want.
To summon the Font dialog box, obey these steps:
- Click the Home tab.
- In the Fonts group, click the dialog box launcher button. The button is found in the lower-right corner of the Font group. Use the Dialog box launcher to open the Font dialog box.

- On the File tab, click Open.
- Go to C:Usersuser nameAppDataRoamingMicrosoftTemplates.
- Open the Normal template (Normal. dotm).
- Make any changes that you want to the fonts, margins, spacing, and other settings.
- When you have finished, click the File tab, and then click Save.

Page numbering is the process of applying a sequence of numbers (or letters, or Roman numerals) to the pages of a book or other document. The number itself, which may appear in various places on the page, can be referred to as a page number or as a folio.
To place your page number in the center, click Insert Alignment Tab in the Position group of the Design tab, click Center, and then click OK. To place your page number on the right side of the page, click Insert Alignment Tab in the Position group of the Design tab, click Right, and then click OK.
