Switching from a POP3 connection to IMAP can result in your existing email being deleted, so you should create a backup of your mailboxes to avoid losing anything important.
Change SMTP Server - Outlook 2010
- Open Outlook and Click the Tools Menu and then click the Account Settings option.
- Either double click the email account in the list or click once and select the 'Change' button.
- This will bring up your email account's settings.
- Next select the "Outgoing Server" tab.
The folder will be created on your mail server, and any messages you store in that folder will sync to all your devices. IMAP is much better for managing email across multiple devices. Change your old POP accounts to IMAP now so you can have access to your email at all times.
On your Android device, head to the Settings menu once again and tap Accounts. At the bottom of the Accounts menu, tap + Add account. In the list of account types, tap Personal (IMAP). In the following screen, enter your email address and tap Next.
For most users, IMAP is a better choice than POP. POP is a very old way of receiving mail in an email client. When an email is downloaded using POP, it is usually then deleted from Fastmail. IMAP is the current standard for syncing your emails and lets you see all your Fastmail folders on your email client.
Update or change your email settings in Outlook for Windows
- Open Outlook and select File.
- Use the dropdown under Account Information to select the account you want to change.
- Select Account Settings.
- Select the type of information you want to change.
- The most common settings you'll change are Server Settings.
To convert a POP/IMAP mailbox to Exchange:
- Use Outlook client to:
- Log in to HostPilot and navigate to Services > Mailboxes > POP/IMAP Mailboxes.
- Uncheck the box next to the POP/IMAP user you want to convert to Exchange and click Proceed and Confirm:
- Navigate to the Exchange Mailboxes tab and click Display all users.
Settings for IMAP and POP
- Tick the checkbox Let me set up my account manually.
- From the Choose Service, select IMAP/POP.
- On the POP and IMAP Account Settings screen, fill out the various fields:
- Click More Settings.
- Click the Advanced tab, under Server Port Numbers change the port numbers to the following:
- Click OK, then Next.
The offline Outlook Data File (. ost) is also saved at drive:UsersuserAppDataLocalMicrosoftOutlook. Most data remains on the server; however, any items that are saved locally should be backed up. For example, Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and any folders marked Local only.
For Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013: Navigate to 'File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings… > Data File tab' then select the PST file you want to remove and click 'Remove'. Note: You are unable to delete a PST file which is set as Default.
Once Outlook is up and running, click the File tab and select Open & Export > Import/Export. In the resulting Import and Export wizard, select Import from another program or file, then Outlook Data File (. pst). On the wizard's next page, for the “File to import' option, click the Browse button and select the old .
Go to the Advanced tab and click on Outlook Data File Settings… Browse the location where you have moved your existing Outlook Data File (OST), select the file and click Open. Finally, click Finish to complete the process.
Creating a PST Archive File in Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013
- Open Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013.
- On the Home tab, click “New Items”, then “More Items”, then “Outlook Data File"
- Select a location to save your PST archive file in the top address bar.
- Name your PST file in the File name field.
- Click OK, the archive PST file will appear on the left side of Outlook.
New Method (Recommended)
- Open the profile (Control panel, search for Mail) and click on Data files.
- Select the account and click Open File Location to open the folder containing the PST in Windows Explorer.
- Close the Account Settings dialog.
- Move the PST to the desired location.
In the Navigation Pane under Mail Folders just right click the folder located in the wrong spot and select Move “folder name”. In the Move Folder dialogue box (you won't be able to drag and drop) Highlight the correct location to move the folder.
Open Outlook, click on Tools, click on Account Settings, then click on the Data Files tab. You should see both Personal Folders; one of them should show as Default under the Comment column. Leave the Default alone, click on the other Personal Folder to highlight it, then click on X Remove above.
Change default mail delivery location in Outlook
- Click File > Info > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- In the Account Settings dialog box, please (1) click the Email tab, (2) select the specified email account whose default delivery location you will change, and (3) click the Change Folder button.
Deleting an IMAP Folder in Thunderbird
- Tools> Account Settings.
- In left pane, select Server Settings.
- Select "Remove it immediately" from the drop-down menu next to "When I delete a message." Click OK.
- Delete your folder by right-clicking on it and choosing Delete.
IMAP: To disable IMAP4 access to the mailbox, click Disable, and then click Yes in the warning message that appears. If IMAP4 is already disabled, click Enable to enable it.
To disable Mail Sync, do the following:
- Click. User Menu > Settings in SharpSpring's top toolbar.
- Click User Email Settings, located under My Account in the left panel.
- Click Disable Syncing.
- Select one of the following options: • Keep all previously synced email. communication.
- Click Disable Sync.
Please try the followings: 1. Close your Outlook client and check if you can see the folder in webmail and try deleting it there. Select the folder or another IMAP folder and then Right click the account > Choose IMAP Folders > Query the folder you want to delete > Click Unsubscribe.
Newer versions Office 2007. ? When using an IMAP email account, an IMAP folder list can be downloaded that displays all the folders contained in your account on the mail server. You can then select which folders that you want to subscribe to or view on your computer.
IMAP synchronization will delete the server copies too. If your account connects using POP, then deleting server copies when you download messages is the default behaviour, unless you specifically change it by setting the checkbox "Leave a copy on server".
Select the "Send/Receive" button. This will allow you to modify sync settings for all your groups and accounts. Deselect "Perform an automatic send/receive when exiting" to stop your program from synchronizing when you log off.
Delete a folder
- Right-click the folder you want to delete and click Delete Folder.
- Click Yes to move the folder and its contents to the Deleted Items folder. When you empty the Deleted Items folder, everything in it — including any folders you've deleted — is permanently erased.
To set the default mailbox of Outlook, click the “File” tab and then click the “Options” menu item. Click the “Advanced” tab and locate the "Outlook start and exit" segment. Click the “Browse…” button and select the folder you want to use as your default mailbox.
Folders like Inbox, Sent Items, Drafts, Calendar, Contacts, etc. are the default folders used in users' mailboxes in Exchange and Outlook. These folders have the WellKnownFolderName property that allows them to be identified regardless of the display language set in Exchange/Office 365.
To set an account as the new default in Outlook, use these steps:
- Open Outlook.
- Click on File.
- Click on Info.
- Click the Account Settings drop-down menu.
- Select the Account Settings option.
- Click the Email tab.
- Select the account you want to make the new default.
- Click the Set as Default button.
This default folder is used to store messages delivered to a mailbox. This default folder contains actions selected by the user. These actions are automatically recorded by Outlook and placed in a timeline view.
