Apprentices are paid a regular wage weekly or monthly, and pay tax and national insurance as normal. Employers are free to pay above the new wage and many do so, but employers must ensure that they are paying their apprentices at least the minimum wage.
Employers might ask for two or more GCSE grades (A*-C) or equivalent. For some intermediate apprenticeships, however, you might not need any formal qualifications. If you don't have GCSEs in English and Maths, though, you'll usually be required to take a basic numeracy and literacy test.
The average starting salary for a degree apprentice in 2019 was £17,800 per year, according to the Incomes Data Research (IDR). Every apprenticeship is tailored to the person doing it. Not only that, but pay varies dramatically based on the sector you're in, your employer, and your level of study.
You're never too old to do an apprenticeship
There is no upper age limit for becoming an apprentice, although arrangements for funding do differ if you are over 24 years of age. There is fair access to apprenticeships and so your age shouldn't affect whether you'll get onto an apprenticeship.When it comes to building transferable skills to attract employers, an apprenticeship is an excellent choice. With an apprenticeship, you will have gained at least a year in the industry, picking up practical working knowledge and skills that will be attractive to any employer.
The Professional Accountant Apprenticeship (Level 7) This apprenticeship is the full ACCA qualification delivered as an apprenticeship programme. ACCA training costs are funded by the government which means minimum expenditure for you. Apprentices will typically complete this apprenticeship in 36 months.
You can't do Apprenticeships that are the same level and qualification. So i.e. you cannot do more than one Business Administration Level 2 Apprenticeship.
After completing an apprenticeship, you could continue to train for an advanced, higher, or degree level apprenticeship, or a related vocational qualification. Alternatively, you could go on to university, or take a professional qualification that leads to a specific job role.
Degree apprenticeships are new, so the available places are currently low. But the good news is that more degree apprenticeship standards are being developed, and as more employers and universities develop their courses, the number of opportunities is likely to grow rapidly over the next few years.

Advanced, higher & degree apprenticeships – levels 3 to 6. Deadline is 30/04/2019 for 2019 starts. For 2020 starts, applications will be open from August 2019 through to January 2020.
