The move is the latest in the slow, painful death of 3D. The technology trend sprang to life amid the hype over James Cameron's Avatar sci-fi film in 2009. Many more 3D movies followed, while broadcasters such as ESPN began hyping the technology for use in our homes. By 2017, 3D TV was dead.
With a few simple tricks however, modern 3D movies can be viewed on a regular TV or computer sans 3D capable display. To maintain the 3D effect, or better said the depth perception, the good old red/blue glasses will be used (Anaglyph). This trick works for Windows, MacOS X and Linux.
Movie theaters typically use RealD 3D glasses, which are passive 3D glasses and these will absolutely work with your 3D system at home, providing it also supports passive 3D technology. You can watch 3D movies using a suitable app. YTS 3D movies typically use a movie format called HSBS or Half-SBS. If you try to view such movies in normal video players, the image would appear squeezed horizontally. So you need a video player that can correct that aspect ratio.
Here's something you probably didn't know your iPhone could do: display movies in 3D. Actually, it can't quite yet. But a company called Spatial View is launching an online 3D movie store, 3DeeCentral, and it has submitted an app that grants access to it for review by Apple.
Run VLC Media Player and play the 3D SBS movie in it. Make sure that the movie you will be playing is a SBS (Side-By-Side) 3D movie. Enable the Anaglyph 3D option and close the Effects and Filter windows (This effect enables the 3D effects of your VLC media player).
