Designed by five times Open Champion John Henry Taylor, it was opened to the public in 1912 and has been the venue for a number of professional and amateur events. The golf centre, which has its own private driving range used for teaching purposes, is located at the Smithy Lodge, entrance to Heaton Park.
A wonderful 600-acre (254 hectare) park about 5 miles north of Manchester. There are extensive trails, both open and wooded. One can put together a run of 3-5 miles within the park with not much overlapping.
The actual hall is closed to the public but the park offers green open spaces, an animal centre and play area for the children. It is also a location for 5k Parkrun and is often listed in the ones that attract the most higher attendances in the UK.
Toilets. The toilet block near to Heaton Hall is available, from the time the park opens until 3.30pm.
Walks in Saddleworth whisk you into the heady beauty of the north west reaches of the Peak District National Park. Hikes from Saddleworth's towns and villages can lead you directly up, onto Saddleworth Moor via bridleways and footpaths until it feels as though the entire national park is laid out before you.
Reservoirs may look inviting but don't be fooled - they can be dangerous places and swimming in them or falling over on the ice can soon become fatal. It doesn't matter how strong a swimmer you are, swimming in reservoirs is extremely dangerous.

The walk starts from the Guide Bridge train station which is right next to the canal in Audenshaw. You can pick up the towpath and follow it west toward Fairfield. Here you pick up the Tameside Trail and follow it south towards the reservoirs.
Delph Dalliance and Castleshaw Reservoir is a 8 mile loop trail located near Delph, Greater Manchester, England that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and walking.

Working with a consortium of cultural planning experts, the Trust team assisted us in recognising the unique potential of these heritage assets.
With 600 acres of parkland, Heaton Park is a massively popular open space for Mancunians, and their dogs. You can get here easily from several M60 junctions, and also the M62.
Heaton Park was busy today as people enjoyed the bank holiday sunshine but some were stopped from having picnics and barbecues. You can't have barbecues. You can't have a picnic. "You cannot sunbathe.
