The U.S.'s elite military units commonly use the Aimpoint and EOTech red dot sights, just to name a few. They have used the Aimpoint Comp M2 & M4 EOTech 553 Holographic Sight's past and present. As a Navy SEAL, I used the Aimpoint, ACOG TA01NSN and Colt 4 X 20.
Although Aimpoint has the superior battery life, EOTech is powered by more commonly available AA batteries and CR123A's. Though most EOTechs have auto turn-off feature they do not have the shake awake feature but neither does Aimpoint. Both brands have great options for night vision compatibility as well.Jun 24, 2021

but, are iron sights obsolete? Not remotely! Granted, they are zero-magnification sighting devices, but as long as you can see your target well enough to place a bullet with precision, iron sights still work as well as they did a century ago; that hasn't changed.
Army officials believe that the ability to quickly adjust between higher and lower power magnifications, soldiers will be better equipped to identify friendly or enemy forces from a distance. They also believe the adjusted magnification will allow for more precise enemy engagement at multiple distances.Aug 27, 2019
