What is the difference between the Levi's 501 and 505? The difference between the Levi's 501 and 505 jeans is the 505 jeans have a more relaxed fit through the thighs in comparison to the 501 jeans. Both styles have a straight cut below the knee, meaning that the fit below the knee for these jeans will be very similar.
Levi's® has a number of sexy, contemporary high rise fits that come in our super flattering and comfortable Sculpt fabrics. Other high rises with a classic Levi's® look and feel include our 501®, 501® Skinny, High Rise 501® Short, Wedgie Original, Wedgie Straight and Wedgie Shorts.
In addition to its reputation for craftsmanship and a democratic fit, denim expert and trend forecaster Samuel Trotman thinks that it's stories like Bing Crosby's that have made the jeans so much more than just a sturdy pair of pants.

Levi's 505 Regular fit has changed and the fit and sizing is off by an inch and mislabeled. They cut an inch out of the rise from seem above pocket to top of belt loop so they ride low and keep falling down. They are contoured differently.
Levi's® 502™ Regular Taper Jeans are a more refined, modern alternative to the straight jean you love. Extra room in the thigh and a clean, tapered cut make them easy to style without compromising comfort. Our most versatile tapered fit, easy for dressing up or down every day.
Levi's® uses their classic three digit numbering system to help you decide which style was designed just for you. For men, each number represents an overall fit. For women, the style numbers mainly determine the fit through the waist, hips, and thighs.
Levi Strauss & Co., world's largest maker of pants, noted especially for its blue denim jeans called Levi's (registered trademark). Here's what to do about that..
- Work out in them. Not really, but a few lunges and squats will help to loosen up the fibers.
- Wear them around the house. Any type of movement can help the denim loosen up a little bit.
- Take a bath with them (yes, really.)
- Some people say get out and wear them until they dry..
WASH COLD. Cold water keeps the color you love. Washing with cold water protects them against fading and shrinking. Turning your jeans inside out and hanging them in a shady space prevents fading and avoids soggy pockets.
Shrink-to-Fit™ denim is raw, unwashed denim that forms to your body. The fit, wear and finish are all unique to you.
Keep in mind, the hotter the water, the more they shrink. To preserve the color, turn your 501™ jeans inside out, replace the warm water with cold water and add a cup of vinegar. Step 6 Let them drip dry until they are slightly damp. Step 7 Put them back on – ideally on a warm day or when you can sit by a fire.
Just set your jeans out in the sun, and voila—you'll find a great slow fade over time. It just might take a while for jeans to achieve the desired effect via direct sunlight.
Most of our jeans have been preshrunk, so there should be very little shrinkage if any. We recommend you purchase the size that fits you best before washing, and they should still fit fine after washing. To minimize any shrinkage, we suggest you wash your jeans in cold water and line dry.
The fit sits at the waist and has a straight leg that is regular through the thigh. While I wear wider leg chinos and slim-fit jeans as well, the democratic fit of the 501 feels like home — it's comfortable and allows my personality to show.
LEVI'S® 511 - MODERN SLIM JEANSSlim, but not overly skinny, the Levi's 511 fits comfortably with a slim silhouette and a low rise waist. The Levi's 511 is one of the best selling and most popular Levi's fits, available in denim, different fabrics and shorts too.
The 511 jeans have a true slim cut, while the 512 jeans have a slim taper cut (which is an even slimmer cut). A tapered cut means the pant leg slowly gets narrower as it reaches the ankle.
Considered the go-to starter pair for raw denim by denimheads, the Levi's 501 Shrink-to-Fit jeans are a smart investment whether you're frugal or snooty. Prior to this, and still true for raw denim today, a pair of jeans would shrink 7 to 10% after the first wash, and continue shrinking slightly on subsequent washes.
