You can't change the idle timeout and you can't disable it. It is set to 10 minutes by our system automatically as we only want active players to use their server.
The length of the queue depends on demand of servers. The more people want to start their server at the same time the longer the queue is. We can't influence demand but we give our best to keep the waiting time as low as possible anyways. But if you don't like queues, go get a new host!
Aternos has a dynamic system, which is mainly divided into two parts: The hosts saving the data, and the hosts executing your game servers. Thousands of servers are transferred every day between this two types of servers.
For Free. We are free, and we will always be free for everyone at any time. There is no possibility to pay for anything.
Aternos Hosting is safe, secure and legit. In our own experience, we had no issues with our server being compromised, uptime was excellent and every Minecraft server is guaranteed DDOS protection so that attacks are thwarted. It's also worth mentioning that Aternos offer automatic backups incase things do get wrong.

To connect to your server, copy the IP address and enter it in your Minecraft client, as a new server or with "Direct Connect". You can find the IP address on the server page with a click on the "Connect" button when the server is online.
Minecraft: Java EditionTo connect to another player's server, log into Minecraft, select Multiplayer from the main menu, click the Add Server button, and enter the IP or web address of that server.
No, Minehut is a premium-only service, meaning you have to purchase the game from Mojang in order to play on Minehut or any of its player servers.
We are free, and we will always be free for everyone at any time. There is no possibility to pay for anything.
In order to grant a player operator rights you have to add them to the OP list. On Aternos you can easily do that on the players page: Navigate to Players -> OPs (https://aternos.org/players/ops) Enter your ingame name and press "Add"
Anyways, yeah aternos is good for small scale stuff. I would stick with a paid service for speed and reliability. Some people don't really have the best experiences with their hosting. Don't worry, they get all of their money from ads, and the server doesn't continuously run — you need to activate and wait in a queue.
