The Mondeo is reasonably reliable. A reliability score of 67% in our latest survey isn't the greatest, but neither is it appalling – so if you find a car that's been well looked after and keep it maintained properly, it should look after you in return.
The Mondeo replacement would have been launched as a plug-in hybrid, capable of travelling around 30 miles on electric power alone. In February 2021, Ford announced that every model in its European line-up would be available as a plug-in hybrid or fully electric car by the middle of 2026.

The Mondeo name is derived from the Latin word mundus, which means world. Its name derives from Ford's desire to create a single mid-size family car for the world, a so-called “world car”.
The new look for the Fusion, which is the name for Mondeo in North America and other global markets, ditches the Aston Martin-style grille of the current car in favour of something sleeker and more contemporary.

Ford announced plans to discontinue all of its sedans back in 2018, and it's achieved that with the demise of the Fusion. The Focus, Fiesta, and Taurus have all left the scene as well, leaving the Ecosport compact crossover as Ford's entry-level offering.
