Answer: If your tickets are booked in your maiden name, there is no need to do anything. If it's in your married name, you need to change the name on your passport. Question: Hello my husband and I just got married and we might travel out of the country by November. Is my passport still okay?
Most states allow one or both spouses to change their last names without a separate name change petition after getting married. You could choose to take your spouse's last name, hyphenate your last names, or in some states, choose a new last name unrelated to either your name or your spouse's name.
You should also check with your state about how to get a REAL ID-compliant identification card, like an enhanced driver's license, if they offer one. The U.S. passport book and U.S. passport card are both accepted as ID for domestic flights.
No fee is required to change or correct the name on a U.S. passport. If you wish to expedite the processing of the application, include a money order or check made payable to the U.S. Department of State for $60, as of 2012. Write "EXPEDITE" anywhere on the outside of the envelope.
Most airlines will not update a name on a ticket, and will charge full fare for a new ticket in a different name. If you are concerned that your spouse will make a mistake with your name and travel plans, opt for travel insurance.

If the name on your ticket does not match your passport, you're not flying. But it's an expensive way: Cancel the ticket, pay the change fee and rebook at the current fare in the correct name.
While Alaska and Delta charge $125 and $200 respectively for changes, other airlines, such as JetBlue and Southwest, allow at least one free correction. For the most part, no matter how good your reason may be to make a change, expect the airlines to apply all penalties, fees, and increased fares.
You can sell your flight ticket to someone else if your airline allows you to change the passenger name. There is always a fee for the name change and it varies. Most low-cost airlines offer name changes as part of their official policy and you can do it easily from your airline account.
Contact the airline directly and attempt to change the name on your ticket. If you are told that it is not possible or that you will be charged a fee, ask if the representative can just make a note to the fact that your ticket was purchased in your maiden name but your passport has your married name in it.

One of my party's names is spelt incorrectly on their airline ticket. If the name on your ticket and passport don't match, you need to get the ticket changed. Many airlines will change a small mistake for free, while other will charge a fee that depends on the size of the error.
Your passport and social security name do not need to match. An airline or TSA will never ask for your social security card. You may continue to travel internationally under your maiden or previous married name. Airline & resort reservations for international travel need to be in your passport name.
