I asked a priest to bless my bible and even other religious books like the Catechism of the Catholic Church. You can bless your bible or any object by yourself but it won't become a sacramental because only a deacon/priest has that authority.
Perform a Christian blessing. The blessing may be performed by an ordained priest or pastor, or by the owner of the house themselves. If you would prefer to have your house blessed by an ordained priest, invite him to your house to perform the blessing, and he will be happy to oblige.
To be Holy Water the water MUST be blessed by a priest. A lay person CANNOT turn water into Holy Water! Holy water must be from a priest. In many parishes there is a place where the faithful can pour out holy water for their use.
It is not necessary to have a Rosary (or any sacramental) blessed more than once, but it sounds like you already know that. I also don't think it matters which priest blesses a Rosary (one priest's blessing is just as effective as another's), so why do you feel the desire to have different priests bless the Rosary?
Of course that is the long answer the short answer is yes you can pray with an unblessed Rosary or even no Rosary at all and just count on your fingers. Of course, you can also have a priest or deacon bless them with an “official” blessing, but you can certainly use an “unblessed” rosary for counting your prayers.
A number of official blessings are restricted to the Bishop,Priest, or Deacon (such as water, medals, etc) (In the is case the priest etc 'gives the blessing') But a lay person, by virtue of thier Baptism etc and their Faith can 'bless' and ought to use blessings in life.
I try to pray it once a day. Whoever shall faithfully serve me by the recitation of the rosary, shall receive signal graces. I promise my special protection and the greatest graces to all those who shall recite the rosary.
I don't know where you live but most larger parishes run a parish store where rosaries, missals, bibles etc. are available, might be open on Sundays only. In our area we have a couple of Catholic stores and even a couple of generic Christan stores that carry rosaries.
It is okay to wear one as such for the reason of having it always close at hand for prayer, but not as a vane adornment. Most Catholics have their rosaries blessed, soon after getting them, which makes them sacramental objects to be treated with respect.
Bless the cross yourself.Blessing the cross yourself may not carry the same effect as a priest's blessing, but anyone may plea to God to bless their cross or other object. Bless this Cross in the Name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
What does it mean when someone sends you a black rosary with no note or return address? It means that you got a free gift. There is no special significance to rosary colors. Men often use black or dark colors versus pink or other pastels or sparkly faceted beads favored by some women or little girls.
Q: Is there a biblical basis for the Rosary? A: As you know the bible does "not" tell us to pray the Rosary because this form of prayer originated only during the middle ages. However, important elements of the Rosary are biblical and/or belong to the common Christian beliefs. Judge for yourself.
Three Hail Marys is a traditional Roman Catholic devotional practice of reciting three Hail Marys as a petition for purity and other virtues. Believers recommend that it be prayed after waking in the morning, and before going to bed, following the examination of conscience at night.
A: The ten Hail Marys are part of the evolution of the rosary. It was custom in the monastic tradition of the Middle Ages to say frequently the Psalter, i.e. 150 psalms of the Old Testament. Over time fifteen mysteries (events of Jesus' life) were retained and combined with the Hail Marys for each one of the mysteries.
In the Catholic Church, the veneration of Mary, mother of Jesus, encompasses various Marian devotions which include prayer, pious acts, visual arts, poetry, and music devoted to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Popes have encouraged it, while also taking steps to reform some manifestations of it.
Catholics believe the Rosary is a remedy against severe trials, temptations and the hardships of life, and that the Rosary is one of the great weapons given to believers in their battle against every evil.
The user places a finger in the opening at the center and puts his thumb on the cross at the top. They recite an Our Father, then moves their thumb onto the first small sphere. They recite as many Hail Marys as they wish, advancing one bead after each prayer.
A: Some people believe Saint Dominic to be the initiator and promoter of the rosary, and that he had received the rosary from Our Lady. In fact, it was Dominic of Prussia and Alanus de Rupe who were the actual pioneers of the rosary prayer. This happened in the fifteenth century.
On Candlemas, many Christians (especially Anglicans, Methodists, Lutherans, Orthodox and Roman Catholics) also bring their candles to their local church, where they are blessed and then used for the rest of the year; for Christians, these blessed candles serve as a symbol of Jesus Christ, who referred to Himself as the
A votive candle or prayer candle is a small candle, typically white or beeswax yellow, intended to be burnt as a votive offering in an act of Christian prayer, especially within the Anglican, Lutheran, and Roman Catholic Christian denominations, among others.
The use of candles for the blessing of throats stems from the candles that Blaise used while in prison. When an old woman's pig had been miraculously rescued from a wolf by Saint Blaise, she would visit him in prison, bringing him food and candles to bring him light in his dark cell.
To the three elements of a lit altar candle, some writers attached a symbolism related to Jesus Christ: the beeswax or other material symbolizing his body, the wick his soul, and the flame his divinity.
