Soda Rock Winery destroyed by Kincade Fire
The Alexander Valley of Sonoma County contains 15,000 acres of vineyards with 31 wineries and 82 growers, The Press Democrat reported. Most vintners completed their grape harvest last week. The Soda Rock Winery burned to the ground early Sunday, videos show.The Getty fire broke out shortly after 1:30 a.m. along the 405 Freeway near the Getty Center and spread to the south and west, rapidly burning more than 600 acres and sending people fleeing from their homes in the dark. About 10,000 structures have been placed under mandatory evacuation orders.
That's where Soda Rock Winery, which was destroyed during the fire, once sat. Other wineries that were damaged include Alexander Valley Vineyards, Battle Family Vineyards, and Medlock Ames Vineyards, according to local news reports.
Two wineries have been destroyed in Mendocino—Frey Vineyards and Backbone Vineyard & Winery—both in Redwood Valley. "Our winery burned to the ground along with all our wine made over the past five years," said owner Sattie Clark in a statement.

There are still Amazon fires - though not as many
Forest fires do happen in the Amazon during the dry season between July and October.
