Jersey Shore beaches generally don't allow you to walk your pet during the summer season but off-season you're free to romp waterside with your pooch on leash. The thing is, most every town has its own definition of “off season,” with differing start and end dates, so please check the individual town listings below.
Sandy HookThis lovely beach is a great place for a daytrip, and pets are allowed on-leash on the bay side all year round. Unfortunately, dogs are only allowed on the beach during the off-season starting on September 15.
No animals are allowed on the beach or other places of resort at any time. Animals on a leash can only be taken on the boardwalk at times other than regular bathing season. Do not dispose of feces in storm drains. All catch basins in Lavallette empty directly into the Barnegat Bay.
Point Pleasant - Point PleasantDogs are allowed on the beach in the off-season, from October through April, on a leash between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Longport Dog BeachOwners must bring their own water and waste disposal items. Longport Dog Beach (also known as Somers Point Dog Beach, Malibu Beach, or just Dog Beach) is an off-leash dog beach located at Malibu Beach Wildlife Management area where dogs of all sizes can play in the sand and water.
Dogs can be unleashed, if controlled. Berkeley Township Dog Beach – Island Beach State Park allows dogs on the non lifeguarded beaches year round. There's also a great trail you can take them on! Brigantine Beach – Dogs are allowed on Brigantine Beach between October 1st and May 29th.
Brigantine allows leashed dogs all year north of 14th Street, and Stone Harbor is fine with leashed dogs strolling the beach on summer evenings, after the lifeguards are off duty and the crowds have thinned.
Dogs are allowed on the beach ONLY from October 1 through May 15. During this time, the dogs or other domestic animals may be unleashed at the beach but must be accompanied by the owner or the owner's representative. Any such animals must be taken directly onto the public beach area.
Animals are not permitted on the Beach as per the Margate City Code Chapter 75-6Q.
All dogs except service dogs also are banned from the beach and ocean in the Ortley Beach section of Toms River, one town to the north of Seaside Heights.
Island Beach State ParkDogs are allowed on all trails except Spizzle Creek Bird Blind Trail, and are not allowed on the public beach with lifeguards. If you should walk your dogs on trails, check them for ticks.

Dogs seven months of age or older must be licensed annually through the municipality where the owner lives. The owner must present proof that the dog has been vaccinated against rabies by a licensed veterinarian, and that its immunity will extend through at least ten months of the twelve-month license period.
The beaches and boardwalk currently remain open and will continue to remain open as long as individuals practice social distancing. Walking, jogging and exercising on the beaches while following social distancing guidelines are permitted.
It is a safe and family friendly area while also being an entertainment town. There is something for everyone here. Asbury park is the best small town around. With booming small business and sandy beaches, you could live like your on vacation.
You can freely walk between Ocean Grove and Asbury Park with no barriers and feel totally safe and secure.
Spring Lake Borough Beach is situated on the Jersey Shore in Monmouth County, NJ. From May 15th to September 30th no dogs are allowed on the beach except in the fenced area near Pitney Avenue from sunrise to 9 a.m. Dogs on a leash are allowed on the beach from October 1st to May 15th.
Animal Control Officers enforce regulations in the City of Long Branch with regards to at-large animals and pet waste. Dogs are not permitted to be at large unless on private property.
